If sleeping 5 meters and a curtain away from the espresso machine doesn't weird you out, there are definitely things to like about this stay. It's right in the midst of the jinguashi area, with lots to see right from your doorstep without having to drive. The teapot mountain trailhead is also walking distance. The bed is comfy. Water is hot and for an old building the place was very clean. The Host is great with communication (we used Line), essential since this is entirely self service. It's nice and quiet at night, provided your neighbors don't make a fuss. And it oozes historic character, unlike the generic concrete blocks otherwise found in the area.
The wind on a stormy night really finds it's way inside. I spent the first evening huddled over the space heater in my coat. The next morning I bought thermal underwear from family mart. Summer would probably be better- I saw at least two AC units. I wouldn't recommend it in inclement or cold weather. For those driving a car, there is no reserved parking, though there are two small lots (5 or so cars) within a few minutes walk. I didn't have an issue parking, but I did have to explore a bit to find something, and I arrived in the evening after most day trippers had left. How much you'll enjoy staying here comes down to your personal preferences- if the idea of sleeping in a rustic cafe after hours excites you or strikes you as memorable, you'll probably enjoy it very much. Personally, I don't think it's great value for the money, given that it's totally self-serve, the building was uncomfortably cold, and the breakfast is just instant noodles and (ironically) instant coffee. But for the experience of a unique stay I could see some people liking it a lot.
