We stayed here for 2 nights. It's a house that was converted by a local family into a B&B, so the decor looks very homey. It's a drive from the train station and there aren't rideshares in Hualien, but the family's two sons picked us up when we arrived and even dropped us off at 5 am in the morning since we had to catch an early train back to Taipei. The family made us breakfast and the AC in the room was good (no AC in the hallways or downstairs).
The bed mattresses are hard (this is normal in Taiwan), and the shower soaks everything in the bathroom, including the cheap trashcan and the toilet paper. But overall, it's a nice place to stay and good value.

Our stay at the Alien couldn't have been better. We were picked up from the railway station. Our room was huge and it was cold when we arrived so a heater was bought to our room. It was so quiet so slept well. The bathroom is small with a wet shower but plenty of hot water and we got our towels changed daily. The breakfast was AMAZING, different everyday and cooked at a certain time for you. The accommodation is a 20 minute walk to the train/ bus station and there's heaps of eating options close by. This accommodation is great value!!

Spacious rooms, hot shower with a good drain, lots of amenities for guests to use, water and tea provided and breakfast included is great.
Slightly longer walk to train station (around 20mins) but they can pick you up and offer to do so which is great so not really a problem! Loved our stay here and would come back.

The room is spacious, aircon is cool. Location is superb which is near to many convenience store, good restaurant, milk tea shop.
Breakfast is a bit boring and you dont have choice. Kitchen can only use the microwave, no usable stove or kettle in the kitchen. If you want to boil water for tea you have to get the kettle from your room.

The host is very nice and thoughtful. We stayed at the property for two nights. We need to leave early to join a tour one day and leave early to Hualien train station the other day. For both cases, The chef, Mr Chen ZiNing, was helping us by preparing breakfast earlier than the normal breakfast time. The breakfast was also well prepared. It was delicious with good nutrition balance. On the day we left for the train station, the host also took us to the station using her own car, this was really helpful. We are really appreciated her kindness and thoughtfulness. The overall condition of the facility is good. The room is nice and clean and very quiet.
If there is blanket available it would be even better.
