Disappointing
I liked the location of the hotel, in the old town of Kaleici. The family who owned and ran the hotel were pleasant and helpful. The outside area at the back of the pool was quite nice to sit in the evening.
The hotel room itself was dire. The bed was like a child's single bed with an old cotton blanket as a sheet. The bathroom was in need of a complete overhaul and very scruffy. The mirror shelf was made of composite wood and where it was so old and worn, was swelling from the damp and the paint was coming off. There was also a lot of mould in the shower. The water in the sink went off completely on the last night, but was working again in the morning. The dark wooden furniture had handles missing and needed replacing. The owners made no attempt to clean the room at all, and after the third day I asked them if they were going to clean it. They did, but that was the only time in my 7 day stay. I ended up putting my bin rubbish and empty water bottles outside the room. The pool was not cleaned at all during my stay and was filthy, green and opaque, so I'm sure no chemicals were used. I did not use it once. The hotel was the family home and they ate their breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining room by the entrance hall with corresponding cooking smells and it felt really awkward when coming and going to my room. The men running the hotel were always sitting about in the reception area and laying on the sofas not doing much, so again felt really awkward when going through reception. There was also another house terrace overlooking my bedroom window and the resident would often sit there all day and look into the window. I sat down by the pool one day and he cat-called down to me which was really off-putting as a solo lady traveller. I could not connect to the wifi in the room when it was being used by everyone in the evening as the signal was not strong enough. This was really annoying. The TV did not have satellite channels, only Turkish TV, so I was watching programmes on my iPad, but when the wifi was not working this was really frustrating. The hotel was not run professionally.

Wonderful
This was our second visit to the Kaleiçi hotel. It has a very relaxed atmosphere run by a very nice, friendly family. It's a very short distance away from the busy bustling old town which comes to life in the evening, however it's not affected by the noise. About a 12-15 minute walk will take you to the harbour and pay beach. Alternatively, you can take a 7 minute walk to the old tram which runs every 30 minutes, you can enjoy the ride to the pebble public beach where you can swim in the clear Black sea ?. The rear garden is a highlight, quaint and peaceful with a small pool you can just about swim in.. It's also very pleasant to sit in and have your Turkish breakfast in the morning sunshine. Try to get a deal which includes breakfast... It represents good value for money, remember this isn't a 5 star hotel, if you want 5 star accommodation you need to pay 5 star prices, don't expect your room to be cleaned every day and perfect showers. We will return....

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious (it was on the second floor). The breakfast was good and diverse. It was served in a cozy inner yard where there was a pool (that came very much in handy during the hot summer days). There was an AC in the room. Could be useful to know: -The pool closes at 7pm.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is perfect, right in the city center and close to everything. The tramway is just a 3-minute walk away, making it very convenient to get around. The staff were very accommodating and waited for us for a late check-in until midnight. Highly recommend!

Great quaint little boutique hotel located in Kaleici Old town convenient for the excellent for seeing the local sites. Great character and history to the building. Lovely staff, keep an eye out for Ali he will help you! Oh almost forget this place has a pool. Such a great feeling having a dip in the morning and at night. Nice courtyard garden area plus a small pool. Likely to stay again. Breakfast was great for a 3 night stay this was perfect for Old town and only 20/25 mins from tje airport.
The room was perhaps a little on the small side. Bathroom was great and did the job.
