The futon beds were very uncomfortable. Thankfully the host provided some mattress pads that helped alleviate the giant metal rod running down the center of those futons ?

We rented the upstairs left and it was delightful. The brother who runs the place and his sister across the street were very kind and friendly. Very supportive. It's an excellent location in the center of everything in Chiang Mai.
The place is called The Step for a reason. It's narrow and there are lots of stairs. But it's worth it if you don't mind the walk.

The location was great, right in the middle of Chiang Mai next to 7/11 and plenty of temples and restaurants. The entire establishment was extremely clean and the management was extremely welcoming, communicative, and helpful during our stay! I highly recommend staying at The Step!

The staff was so helpful and welcoming. The suite was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Location was perfect! You could walk to the temples, coffee hops and restaurants, and the markets.

The host and facilities were amazing! Would definitely return again. The only drawback was noise coming from one of the nearby rooms.
Noisy neighbors. (If you stay here please just be mindful and walk and speak quiet to offer respect for other guests. It was a bit challenging to only had one room key available. (I was traveling with a friend and we were doing separate tours and excursions). However, the host is very attentive and would have surely helped us to access the room if needed.

Central location, friendly host who responded quickly and gave many food and attraction recommendations, clean room and comfortable bed.
The AC faced the head of the bed, which made it a bit uncomfortable at night (since cold air was blowing at our faces). There were three different "steps" between the entrance to the bathroom, the toilet, and the shower - with no "caution" markings or lines - which tripped us up a few times.

Incredibly clean, room was ready early, the staff was incredible. They were super responsive, polite, and so helpful. The laundry service was so clutch for us and they were very prompt. The people here make it great, I can’t recommend it enough. Also, great location and you can walk to more fantastic restaurants and bars than you will need.
The beds are on the firm side, but that’s pretty typical for this part of the country. Not unusual, but for a westerner, you’ll probably notice it. I still slept like a baby.

The staff was so friendly and went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and easy. They even held onto clothes I had left in my room after check out and coordinated where I could retrieve it later. Walking distance to everything but hidden from the noise of the city

The location is perfect, and the place is spotlessly clean. Communication with the host was seamless—they provided lots of great local tips, including amazing restaurant recommendations, breakfast spots, and must-visit night markets. Highly recommended!
