Wonderful
The location was incredible. Very walkable to everything. Across the street, there is a a beautiful view of the city. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They kept our bags for us for no extra cost. It was very clean.
One sink did begin to leak while we were there, but we told the front desk and they fixed it immediately.

The location is absolutely fantastic, central to everything, the tram runs right in front of the entrance of the hotel, across the road is one of the best viewpoints of the city of Lisbon. There are fantastic restaurants and boutique shops nearby. Absolutely fantastic value and location.

Disappointing
A good location near Baixa Chiado.
We have stayed at The Independente Suites periodically over the last 10 years. It appears ownership has changed, and with that, what was once a fun shabby chic spot to stay is now quite tired. It offers a good location but sadly not much more.
The park across the street used to have a wonderful view of the city and a bit of live music. It now offers street food, outdoor seating and various musicians & music.
If you do stay at The Independente, get a room on the back, be sure to pack amenities, a flashlight, but leave your expectations at home.

The location was perfect and the room was gorgeous and clean.
The lost and found isn't accessible 24/7. I left my coat and couldn't get it before my flight because the cleaning staff has the key instead of the property.

We stayed at Independente Príncipe Real and I loved it. It’s not a luxury hotel, but an authentic, charming, antique property in a great location. The staff were very responsive, and while the breakfast didn’t have much variety, everything was light and high quality.

Really cute! Doors lock with cards. Staff was very helpfull.
Bathrooms could have been more clean. Our room was right over the restaurant, and our towels on our bed smelled like BBQ at the end of the day. The restaurant was very loud.

“Mama” was a breath of positivity and welcoming each morning at the included breakfast.
Front desk staff seemed put out every time and there were a number of problems. Hallway lighting was non existent at times. No shampoo or lotion or tissues or shelves in shower to put own. WiFi was nonexistent or intermittent in each of the 3 different rooms we had. They supply earplugs in every room which is indicative of the noise levels coming from the street, the alley, the on-property restaurant and rooftop bar. Noise from rooftop bar patrons coming down stairs until 2am made sleep difficult. AC quit working second of 5 nights and they moved us to “a smaller room” where the AC worked, but never an apology or “sorry you have to change rooms”. Asked for compensation for moving to what staff described as “a smaller room” and manager blamed us for breaking the AC and occupying 2 rooms while they tried and failed to fix the AC.

Location is perfect. Price is ok; good to have a kitchen and a laundry in the premises. No limitations on check in timing
We did make a reservation for two beds in a 6 shared room and were given the beds in a 9 shared room. We did request for a change but it never happened, did request for a reimbursement that we will receive later, thanks for that! Room was very noisy, hard to have a full quiet night! Bathroom not very clean, water accumulating in the shower floor.

Lovely spot! Neat old facility. Beds were great, staff was wonderful and great roof top bar. It is located in a vibrant neighborhood but nothing that kept us from getting a good nights rest.

Amazing property, very friendly
They should have more regulation regarding age of people staying at the hostel like other hostels do.
They allow people +45 to stay which was weird to me considering girls on they’re 18-19 normally stay.

Great location
The property needs some work. I understand it is in the process of migrating from some % hostel and some % full service to 100% full service. I would encourage that change as right now they are confused as to who they are. They need to upgrade the beds and A/C
