The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful, inside and out. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The complimentary port was much appreciated. Has to be the best all round experience we have had on our trips away.

The location was excellent.
The rooms were clean and comfortable
The staff were friendly.
The garden was lovely for spending some relaxing time in the sunshine with lots of seating options and a fire pit in the evenings.
Complimentary coffee and cakes were available all day with wine & port from 6pm.
There weren’t any negatives for me.

The terrace was beautiful with the tiled arch gateway & cozy lounge sofa. I wish we could have stayed longer and just enjoyed the peaceful setting more.
There is a taxi service offered all the way to the entrance, but uber/bolt (about 1/2 the price) cannot make the last 10 minutes due to the protected zone. Which makes it beautiful & special but if one has large luggage perhaps it could be a bit more of a challenge (although we decided to walk the cobblestone streets with our luggage up the hill).

Very beautiful and quiet hotel. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Right in the middle of the historical district by the castle with peacocks.

More of an upscale hotel…really nice ambiance and everything. Staff super helpful. Peacocks were a very nice surprise!

Beautiful part of Lisbon and in a historical area beside the castle.
Very traditional Portuguese style accommodation..
Courtyard was a haven to enjoy after a busy day or for breakfast.
Staff were all very accommodating and friendly.
The beverage station all day was a nice touch.
The happy hour at 6 was also a lovely touch in the lounge and courtyard.
Some taxis were not able to go to the hotel because of road restrictions, so if you get offered a free transfer by the hotel, take it.
The hotel also have a golf cart they can take you and your luggage too the taxi meeting point.
Room service is somewhat limited but there are lots of eating options within 5 minutes walk of the hotel.

I loved this hotel. It was one of my favourite hotels across 5 continents. The staff were lovely, the hotel was charming, the location was ideal for what we wanted (old town), and although our hope was that we might briefly get to see a peacock or two, it got to the point that my daughter was almost bored of them. They were always around, looking gorgeous and entertaining us with their antics. The breakfast was nice and there were always little cakes available. And the history of the hotel was obvious and celebrated.
Nothing that I can think of. I didn't like that we didn't stay longer. I was worried by some reviews that the walk between downtown and the hotel was uphill and challenging and I didn't think we'd want to stay very long if this were the case. Once there, we realized that the location was really nice and well-worth a little extra walk. Our downtown hotel that we changed to was "centrally located" and not nearly as interesting and didn't have as many restaurants, cultural locations, and shops nearby.

It is very cool to stay in a hotel that is within the castle walls. I would definitely check out the museum that is downstairs. It is tiny, but it has very interesting history. They also had a bottle of port in our room and we had champagne every night on the patio. We also had a lot of peacocks. It was fun to see them all. If you want to stay in a private and quiet area of town than this may be the place.
The only draw back is that you have to take a sanctioned Taxi to the hotel, as uber and bolt can not go there. And it is on the top of the hill. So there is a lot of walking.
