This is a lovely historic building. But if you use a driver not a Taxie to pick up,or deliver be aware that drivers are not allowed in this area. Taxis are. The hotel drove us to where we need to be but…. It is very good choice, just remember this hotel is up hill. Lovely breakfast!

Solar Do Castelo is beautiful. Wonderful location (as long as you don't mind the hill!), really beautiful interiors and a relaxing courtyard visited by the occasional peacock. Fantastically attentive but unobtrusive staff - who were really helpful in getting us to our taxi on our last day. They offered a free transfer on the way in - which is really helpful and left us in awe of the taxi drivers navigating those tiny streets and myriad of tourists in the area beyond the castle gate. Highly recommended.
There's nothing to dislike about the place. However, if you have any mobility issues or simply don't like climbing hills, please be aware that this is as high up in the alfama /castelo area as you can get... you have to be prepared to climb back up all those steps /slopes to get to your bed! :)

Henry (front office) was wonderful before and during our stay.
Included with our stay was a taxi from the Lisbon airport, Happy Hour snacks and beverages, and a full breakfast.
It is located in the oldest part of historic Lisbon.
