Location in Alfama. Staff: very helpful and courteous. Excellent food selection.
Nice river view.
1. My room (#6) was damp, musty smelling.
2. Insufficient lighting, ie., lack of overhead lighting for packing luggage on the bed.
3. lack of luggage storage
4. Sink and shower faucet is not user intuitive. Its overly minimalist design is bordering pretentious.
5. Dining facilities lack comfortable dining table. Uncomfortable low on the ground tables. (except communal table)

We loved the hotel's design and the staff were all welcoming and friendly. Our room was beautiful with wonderful views.
The only thing to note is that you have to walk out a cobblestone street to get to the main street from the hotel - our airport taxi dropped us off on the main street and we had to struggle with our bags to the main entrance. When we departed, the hotel booked a car that came right to the entrance!

I liked everything in this hotel. Memmo Alfama is wonderful hotel. Totally nailed with the style that have applied, the location where it is, the decorations of the hotel and the rooms everything is a big win. The hotel gives so much cosiness in the interior that is incredible, you feel like you are in your apartment although you are in a hotel restaurant. I don't have words that can express my satisfaction by the hotel staff, which every time was ready to help, knowledgeable and very friendly. This is a hotel that i will come over again if i visit Lisbon.
I can't think of anything that can be better in this hotel.

It was very cool in the building. We could not eat upstairs though we would have liked to. Beautiful view.

The hotel is very pretty and basically, well kept. We did have ants in our room, which was upsetting. We had a balcony, but we didn't leave the door open, but they were on the side of the room by the door. Otherwise, the room was clean and attractive, but quite small. The view was amazing, and the pool was a nice treat because it was hot. We did eat upstairs, on the deck, and the food was good ,but the service was very slow. The staff was apologetic, but it was the worse service we had on the 11 day trip!
The size of the room, breakfast was not included in our stay, and it was not inexpensive. Every other hotel included it, not sure why it wasn't included for us. We did pay for it, and it was good, but thought it should have been part of the stay.

Breakfast was great and staff was very friendly. Convenient for walking and shopping. Watched our cruise ship unload while we sat outside.

breakfast is exceptional, welcome day was suprising exceed our expectation, from staff to free chocolates, water in room and very clean room, it is very quiet is great. Terrace view is a perfect plus. Yes I recommend this hotel to anyone

The staff were amazing. Thiago at the front desk was helpful recommending sights to see, Trolley 28 "tour", local restaurants (not tourist food), and he even broke our large Euro bills for tipping money. The morning breakfast is outstanding. Very good quality meats and cheeses and delicious cooked egg dishes. The views from the pool and terrace area amazing. You can even see your cruise ship arrive. The location is in a great area (Alfama) and is safe with many hidden local restaurants to visit. And if you get the chance to attend the Memmo hotel Wine/Dinner and Fado music show, do it!!! The wines were awesome as were the menu items. And the live Fado show was fantastic with included history of Fado. I can't recommend this hotel enough!!!
There was no desk to work on a computer but most historical European hotel rooms are smaller and do not have space for a small desk. Not a real problem, but guests should be aware of it in case they plan to work while staying at the hotel. If so, my suggestion is work from the dining area or even the terrace area with the fabulous view.

The breakfast was great. The staff at the front were very helpful, especially the men.
The breakfast wait staff seemed a bit clueless or were not well trained. The woman at the front desk did not seem friendly. The eating options in the neighbourhood seemed limited, but your hotel does not control that.

The breakfast was excellent. There is a rooftop deck that has gorgeous views of the city where you can both eat and drink. It is very close to the trolley lines and an easy walk from many sights. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The bed and shower were excellent.
The only marginally negative thing I can think of is that there is about a 50 yard long small road that goes to the front door from a main road that is between buildings and seems a bit dark when you are walking back at nite though we had no problem at all and did not encounter anyone sketchy there.
