The room and Chiado House were exactly as described and pictured. We had no issues. We especially enjoyed being able to sit in the common area and relax.

It was a grand, gracious home with old world details and a lovely breakfast room with beautiful tiles and a sunny balcony with pretty views. It was nice to be able to make your breakfast with eggs and assorted fillings for an omelette. The bread, fruit and cold cereals were very good. The host, Antonio, was kind and gracious. We loved the neighborhood, near wonderful plazas and restaurants, an easy walk to sights and views.
We appreciated the generous size of our room, which felt like a suite, but the lighting was poor. It seems like it would be easy to remedy this with a ceiling fixture or additional lamps. I would have liked to be able to have a cup of coffee or tea outside the strict breakfast hours or a kettle in the room.

Location and lovely facilities.
No frills - self service breakfast was 8 until noon. Our first day the tour started st 8 so we skipped breakfast. The second day we came down after 10 and there was no one in the kitchen and it was not clear what we were to do so we left. There was also no water or glasses in the room. We figured out we could take the glasses out of the kitchen but again not clear.

The house is beautifully maintained; our room was simple and attractive; good bathroom. The host was helpful when asked. The location was good for restaurants, metro, trams and buses as well as shops if you are a shopper.
I was fully aware that breakfast was self served. The kitchen is well organized for self serve. However, place setting would make it nicer and easier to navigate.

Beds far too hard for us, no fan or AC for ambient noise so street noise takes time to adapt for sleep. Restaurant across street makes an unplanned meal fantastic.

The location and classic local style of the building.
The shared breakfast area was nice and social.
I did get my own bathroom but it was in a different room in the hallway, it was slightly inconvenient.

The host was extremely gracious and welcoming and available every day. The breakfast was fantastic and available until noon. The common sitting room had tons of Old World charm. The heating and A/C unit worked well.
The mattress was ready for an upgrade. Coffee was good but no decaf available.

Excellent value and location. Slept well and exceptionally clean. Only a bit hard getting up 2 stair flights with my suitcase without a lift but that was my choice as I knew in advance. Very kind host and excellent breakfast room with great balcony
