The location is excellent, near so many restaurants, stores and historical places. Convenient transportation to many places. We appreciate the comfort and friendliness of the staff. Good selections for breakfast

We recently stayed at Hotel Mundial in Lisbon and unfortunately, our experience was far from ideal. While the location is central—right next to the famous Tram 28 stop—it also borders a park that is frequently visited by homeless individuals and people dealing with drug addiction, which made us feel uneasy, especially in the evenings.
The hotel itself is quite dated and clearly in need of refurbishment. The room carpets were stained, and the general condition of the facilities reflects its age (sofa broken, mould). On the positive side, the staff were mostly friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated.
Breakfast was very basic. There are two breakfast areas: we can recommend the one on the 8th floor, which has a better atmosphere and service. The one on the 1st floor, however, was underwhelming. The food variety was average—not bad, but certainly not impressive.
The most serious issue we encountered was a theft from our hotel room. Two pairs of earrings were taken from a beauty case in the bathroom. We suspect a member of the cleaning staff, as there was no sign of forced entry and only hotel staff had access. What was most upsetting was the hotel management’s reaction. Initially, they discouraged us from involving the police. After insisting, the police was called, and the police were very professional and arrived within 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the hotel allowed the suspected staff member to leave before police could question her, which was extremely frustrating. We were left feeling that the hotel did not take the matter seriously.
The police informed us that theft in hotels has been on the rise in Lisbon, with small valuable items often stolen and sold for drugs. It’s something to be aware of when booking accommodation in the city.

We had a great stay! Centrally located in Praça Martim Moniz, with restaurants, shops, metro, buses, and iconic trams, with the famous 28, right at the doorstep. The welcome gift of a “Pastel de nata” and a mini bottle of Porto wine was a lovely and elegant touch from the hotel staff.
