Wonderful
The staff, food, location and stylish art filled public areas (hosts exhibitions in the corridors) with a stunning view over the city to Castel San Jorge and down to the River Tagus. Many reviews of the Hotel do Chiado said how wonderful the staff are, that is certainly true. We were warmly greeted outside of the door as our taxi drew up and shown to our rooms then guided round to the Bar/Restaurant and Breakfast Room. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, dealt well with my problems using the coffee machine and gave us a bottle of wine to compensate. As I was going out one morning the Receptionist expressed concern for my safety on the steep street, made slippery by the rain. I assured him I had sturdy trainers on and would go slowly. (In the Old City most of the streets are steeply sloping and paved with small irregular tiles or stones, trainers or walking shoes a must). The Breakfasts were very good and the Lunches / Dinners exceptional. The staff of the Rooftop bar/restaurant made it all great fun. The location was perfect, central, lots of restaurants and shops, very near the Baixa Chiado Metro Station and easy walking distance from the Main Square and the Tagus.
Our rooms were comfortable, spacious, well equipped and very clean.
Nothing really, though I did find my room a bit bland compared to the rest of the Hotel.

We really can't say enough good things about this hotel. From the minute we walked in the staff greeted us warmly and were super helpful to two confused and jet-lagged folks who'd suffered a major flight snafu. The room was very comfortable (great beds lots of pillows) but the best part was the terrace overlooking Lisbon. Our room definitely had one of the best views in the city. Definitely worth the price. We've stayed at hotels at home that cost more and definitely didn't have these kinds of views! Treat yourself and spend a little more and get a terrace room. You won't regret it.
Over the course of our stay, every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. They even gifted us a small sample of port as we left.
Also, the food service was excellent. We had breakfast at the hotel a couple of times but we're happier catching a coffee and pastry at a neighborhood cafe. That said, the breakfast buffet was excellent. We also capped off several nights in the rooftop bar. Super friendly staff and a nice, but small, wine list. Perfect place to end the day.
Overall, a to 10 stay for us. We'll definitely stay again when we return.

Breakfast was served in a beautiful room overlooking the city and river. Our room was large and had a lovely terrace. The location was perfect. Everything was within walking distance and yet our room and hotel was very quiet though surrounded by a lot of restaurants and shopping.

The room was superb. The terrace was a real bonus. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel lived up to my expectations.
Only one thing. For travellers needing a twin bedded room there is no guarantee that their needs will be met. The hotel needs to instigate a first booking, first allocation system and let guests know at time of booking whether their request can be met.

Very Good
The staff was very friendly, cordial and helpful. The hotel bills itself as an art haven, and there are many pictures on the walls to bolster that impression.
There is a rooftop bar with a great view of the city, but there is no protection there if there are high winds so evening drinks could require outer garments.
The restaurant was adequate, with a breakfast that we included in our price, and a dinner menu that was not expansive but one that would probably present some choices for everyone.
We stayed for three nights and found the nightime sound levels to be undisturbing.
The bathroom was large with a single sink. The shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure.
The hotel is on a coblestone one-way street on a steep hill. Nearby sidewalks are not very wide.
I did not see how other rooms were sized and configured, so I cannot make any statement about their quality or features. There are larger rooms than ours was and apparently some suites on the top floor. Our room was serviceable but not spacious, with two twin beds pushed togther. The interenet and TV were fine, although most US guests will find little in English to watch. If you want to watch TV your must sit on the bed.
All electrical outlets were Euro 220v utilitzing two round pins. Since most modern electronics can now be charged or powered using 120 or 220 volts, your only requirement is to have an adapter that will plug into the Euro socket and give you an American plug for your computer or smartphone. There are NO dedicated USB charging ports in the room.

Perfect boutique hotel in prime location. Room 712 was private, spacious and had a lovely terrace/patio deck with spectacular views. Very good breakfast and exceptional staff, friendly, professional, informative and helpful. We have stayed in many 4 star hotels over the decades, Hotel do Chiado rates as the pinnacle of what a great hotel stands for. HIGHLY recommended.
Nothing, except we would loved to have stayed longer, 5 days is not enough in this hotel and Lisbon.

Wonderful
The location was prefect, right is the heart of town and easy walking to all the sites, shopping and restaurants.
The rooftop bar had a beautiful view but unfortunately it was closed due to the rain storms. It did open on our last night and we enjoyed it. We got the terrace room and had an amazing view of the castle and water- highly recommend getting this room. The breakfast was very good. The staff were warm and friendly. We would stay here again.
The inside bar (not the rooftop) was not great. It had no atmosphere, the lights were bright and it felt more like a conference room.
