There’s always people
When I arrived at 6:30 PM, I walked up and was greeted by a busy bar cum reception. It was a Friday night so it was busy and the man handling the reception (tall skinny white guy) was busy talking to a group of girls at the bar. I stood waiting for my turn - obviously looking lost and tied with my huge backpack. I waited for 5 minutes and was completely ignored even though I’ve been making eye contact with him and clearly wanting to check in. Not the best first impression when your priority is flirting and not checking people in.
Joined the pub crawl for 2 nights consecutively because I was told it would be different locations. Turns out they were different bars but same club as the last location.
Plug for my bed didn’t work the last night.
For the price and reputation I expected better. Total letdown.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Home Lisbon Hostel = Unexpectedly Amazing ??
What started as a simple hostel stay turned into a longer Lisbon adventure — thanks mostly to my questionable travel planning ?.
When I suddenly needed to extend my stay while the hostel was nearly full, I was expecting stress… but Vanessa handled everything so effortlessly that I’m convinced she has some kind of magical room-management powers ?. Calm, professional, and incredibly helpful, she turned what could have been a headache into a completely smooth experience.
Manel was equally fantastic — genuinely friendly, welcoming, and always bringing positive energy. The staff here truly make the place feel special.
The hostel itself is honestly impressive. Spotlessly clean, incredibly well-organized, and with an atmosphere that instantly makes you feel comfortable. It strikes the perfect balance between social and relaxed — lively when you want it, peaceful when you need it. Some hostels give you a bed, but Home Lisbon Hostel gives you an experience ??
Some places you stay at… and some places genuinely become part of your trip.
Home Lisbon Hostel definitely falls into the second category.
Highly recommended — would happily return!

This hostel was by far the best I've ever stayed at! As a solo female traveler I felt safe and staff was extremely helpful in recommending places to check out in the city or how to get around! I made so many friends with fellow travelers as the hostel organizes trivia nights, and group dinners which were really fun! The facilities are gorgeous, clean and I was super comfortable during my stay! Great experience with The Home Lisbon Hostel and I'd totally stay again!

It was clean and well thought out and comfortable dorm. The staff were excellent. The walking tour with Wendel was excellent. It is great they offer these extras. Loved the breakfast.

Dinner for 15 euros,..entry, main meal , drink (alcoolic) and dessert...a deal for very good food. ..All prepared by Mama and her staff..
Mama has a tradition to have all the guests that signed up for dinner to eat together at a long table...and she made toasts during the dinner...It was a great experience to meet people from different countries , hear about their trip in Portugal and their advises on where to go ..what to do.. At no time during the dinner have I seen anybody looking at their phone..A real human experience ...with no digital gadgets... in between us. ;-)
Quieter room doors (just need to add rubber pads so when the door close at night....all others can sleep tight)
Add two more washing and drying machines ..(one is definitely not enough..)

This place is amazing and unique in so many ways.
The staff should find ways to make guests more aware and respectful of other guests during night in terms of noise they create, particularly with slamming doors. Insulation in old buildings such as this one is not expectedly good, so the noise can easily wake you up.

I stayed in the female-only dorm and I loved how the female section was completely separated from the mixed dorms. I wear hijab and I loved how I didn't need to wear my headscarf when going to the washroom. Beds are comfy, clean, and the washroom is clean. There is hot water. I highly recommend signing up for the mama dinner.
Wifi service was not great at the dorm. It works well in common areas though.

The location is good. It’s close to shopping area and metro station. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff Jonas was helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my stay.

The location and rooms are amazing. Have tours from hostel.
There is no proper wifi in room. Always have to be near reception to get any signal.
The hostel offers mamas food and it was great. Such a sweet lady. However I find the food really salty (soup and main course). Dessert was yumm. Good for the value for dinner, however salt is what masks all the flavours.
