Friendly staff
I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Continental in Lisbon, and it was a very disappointing experience, shockingly below the standards I have come to expect from the Holiday Inn brand, and IHG hotels more broadly.
Throughout my travels, I have stayed in at least seven different Holiday Inn locations across the GCC (Amman, Dubai, Lebanon, Kuwait, etc.), and Europe, and never have I encountered such poor service and lack of basic amenities.
- Toothpaste and slippers were completely out of stock during my stay. When I asked for a hair comb and cotton swabs at 9PM, I was told they were only available in the morning and that I would need to wait until housekeeping returned the next day.
- At 10PM, I called to request two bottles of water to be sent to my room. To my surprise, I was told I would need to go down to the bar and get them myself, something I’ve never experienced in any hotel, let alone a Holiday Inn.
- The kitchen closed at 10PM on a Saturday night, which is already surprising for a hotel in a major city. What made it worse was that there was no warning or heads-up about this during our dinner — extremely poor communication.
Overall, the lack of attention to basic guest needs and the poor quality of service was a major letdown. I chose Holiday Inn Continental Lisbon precisely because of the reliability and standard I expected from the IHG brand, sadly, this property did not deliver on that trust.
I hope that management seriously reviews the operations and services at this hotel. I would not recommend this location based on my experience.

The staff particularly the older gentleman taking room numbers outside the breakfast room was extremely friendly and kind to my three year old son.
Bed was extremely comfortable and huge. Good location. Lobby gives 4-5* vibes.
The bidet tap was loose in our bathroom.

Hotel is very outdated, the floors in the room are delaminated and creaky, the twelfth floor has an odor, and they forgot to put a crib in the room. The crib that did arrive was falling apart

Great location, great breakfast and staff!
Though sheets and room are clean, in the bathroom there is a bad smell and it is visible that no repairs or changes to the furniture or sink have been done for years. The room is a bit old and no pleasure to the eyes, but it you just use it to sleep, or pass by, maybe you can ignore the sadness of the room.. also curtains are broken-it is a pity that these things are not replaced.
