The hotel has a fantastic location and spacious rooms. A special mention goes to the wonderful chef, Benjamin, who makes an absolutely delicious risotto, and to Oksana from the restaurant, who went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful dinner experience.
A huge thank you to Oksana for her attentiveness, care, and professionalism. She truly made our evening special!
Unfortunately, the reception staff were a major downside of our stay.
First of all, the hotel contacted me in advance and confirmed that our room would have one king-size bed. However, when we arrived, there were two separate beds in the room, and we then had to ask for them to be pushed together.
Our room overlooked the back of the hotel, right next to very loud ventilation systems. It was practically impossible to keep the balcony door open because of the noise and the strong smells of food coming from outside. The Deluxe Room with Balcony also looked quite different in reality compared to the photos, but no one seemed particularly interested in finding a solution or offering us an alternative.
We came to celebrate a birthday, and when we asked the reception for help arranging flowers, the whole process was surprisingly slow and complicated. We also asked them to book a table at a restaurant near the hotel for a birthday dinner for nine people, but somehow the reservation was made for only two people. We had a similar experience when arranging our airport transfer — it involved far too much back-and-forth for something that should be straightforward at a five-star hotel.
Breakfast service was another disappointment. There seemed to be many new or inexperienced members of staff who often appeared unsure of what they were supposed to do. Orders were mixed up, dishes arrived in a strange order and often took a very long time to come. The breakfast selection itself was also quite limited.
For a five-star hotel, we expected a much higher and more consistent standard of service, particularly from the reception team.

What did you like most?
We had four fantastic nights at 138 Liberdade Hotel. Our room was beautiful and very spacious, with an amazingly large and comfortable bed. Everything was spotlessly clean.
The restaurant is beautiful and breakfast was excellent every morning, with plenty of choice and very good quality. We also had dinner at the hotel and really enjoyed it. The sushi in particular was delicious and of excellent quality.
What made our stay even more special was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, and nothing was ever too much trouble. A special compliment to the reception staff, who helped us with everything we needed and always made us feel welcome.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend 138 Liberdade Hotel to anyone visiting Lisbon. If we return to Lisbon, we would definitely stay here again!

We came as a family and stayed in two rooms.
The standard room was excellent—comfortable and clean.
The suite was absolutely exceptional.
It provided an outstanding level of comfort and made our stay truly enjoyable.
The hotel itself is excellent, and the service throughout the property made us feel genuinely welcomed and well taken care of. The breakfast was by far the best hotel breakfast I have ever experienced at a five-star hotel.
The dining room staff were exceptional, especially the two gentlemen who were the shift managers. They went above and beyond to accommodate all of our special requests and made sure everything was perfect.
The hotel also has an excellent location, just a five-minute walk from the city center, with a metro station directly opposite the hotel. The reception and entrance staff were also wonderful, and having security personnel at the entrance gave us an additional sense of comfort and safety.
Our stay was truly magical and exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed every moment, and much of that was thanks to this luxurious hotel and its outstanding team. We would definitely be happy to return.

Very Dirty hotel, sewage smell in the corridors , useless personnel that barely speak English ( except the reception people) , terrible service . Three nights at the hotel and they didn’t even change the towels. Average breakfast and dinner .

Specifically the bathroom- I ALWAYS check bathroom first. The functional window to air out the bathroom is nice. I definitely liked that it DID NOT smell like urine in the bathroom. But with the black tiles and dark grout, you can’t tell if that’s mold. A little bleach will take care of that. Other than that it would’ve been perfect.

This hotel is in an excellent location, right in the luxury shopping district and within walking distance of the city center. The rooms are spacious, the balconies are a nice feature, and the breakfast and outdoor café are pleasant. It is a good choice for a short shopping-focused stay.
Overall quality feels closer to a four-star hotel than a five-star property. The closets are small, the open shower area is inconvenient, and there is no swimming pool or other major facilities. The dark interior design also creates a less welcoming atmosphere.

Hotel is very clean and well maintained. The breakfast is amazing with so much choice and variety. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant and everything we ate was so delicious.
And the whole staff is so friendly and helpful, every single one of them!
There is fresh flavoured water, coffee and snacks in the lobby everyday, which is a great touch. They even prepared us a breakfast box to go the morning we left since it was so early. The metro is also righty across the street.
