Very Good
not quite what I expected, but very good and very reasonably priced. 2 large buildings divided into sections. Rooms are small and basic, simply furnished without air conditioning, but windows open, and fans are provided. Very clean and comfortable bed. Bathroom, lounge and kitchen are shared with approximately seven other rooms. Lots of stairs and no lifts. Staff are excellent and very helpful, and speak good English. Sort of a cross between a high end hostel, and a budget hotel. Very close to a metro station, so easy to get around.
it was hot weather, so it took a while at night to get the room to a comfortable temperature with windows wide open which allowed for street noise until the early hours as there are many nearby bars and restaurants.

I had a wonderful stay and would happily return.
The biggest highlight was the staff – without a doubt the nicest, friendliest, and most helpful staff I have ever encountered. They were always available, genuinely kind, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
The rooms are on the smaller side, but they are very cozy, well-designed, and exceptionally clean. Everything was spotless and well maintained throughout our stay.
The accommodation uses a shared bathroom system, which might sound unusual to some travelers, but the bathrooms are extremely well organized, modern, and kept impeccably clean at all times.
Breakfast is simple, yet very fresh and absolutely sufficient to start the day. The quality of the products was excellent, and everything was replenished regularly.
There is also a shared kitchen available for guests, which is a great addition. You can store food in the refrigerator, prepare your own meals, and enjoy the flexibility of having access to a clean and well-equipped kitchen area.
Overall, an excellent place to stay with outstanding hospitality, great cleanliness, and everything you need for a comfortable visit to Lisbon.
Bonus point fot the location: It is the only part of the city where you can walk to all 4 metro stations
Nothing.

Chalet D'Ávila is more than just a guest house, it’s a place with a soul that makes you feel at home. The atmosphere is warm and peaceful, but what truly makes this place exceptional is the staff. I have rarely met such impeccable professionals who combine efficiency with genuine human empathy. They take the time to truly listen and make you feel seen, transforming a simple stay into a meaningful experience. A special thank you to the team for their kindness and for creating such a safe, welcoming environment for me and my mom!!! We will definitely be back! ✨
Only the fact that I had to leave. Everything was perfect for my 5-night stay.

Wonderful
I arrived late in the midnight, the staff was really friendly and nice. I waited for awhile but it was fine, the staff took my luggage to my room at 4th floor. Location is great and public bathrooms are clean. Another good part is breakfast. Great multiple options and the homemade yogurt was delicious!

The staff was wonderful. The location was great, right next to Saldana metro station. The beds comfortable and the breakfast fantastic. They even left the breakfast area open for coffee and snacks through the day.

I would like to sincerely thank all the staff of this hotel — it was truly a wonderful stay. I’ve already returned to Poland and I still miss those amazing breakfasts!
The fresh bread rolls and cheese were absolutely delicious (by the way, could you please tell me what that cheese was called? I really loved it). Overall, the breakfasts were just perfect — everything was incredibly tasty and of high quality.
The rooms were very clean, housekeeping was done regularly, and everything smelled fresh and well cared for. It was a real pleasure to stay there.
I would also like to highlight the staff — everyone was incredibly kind, friendly, and always ready to help. This truly made the stay special. It was also very convenient that check-out is at 12:00.
But the real “cherry on top” was our departure day. Our flight was at 00:30 the next day, and we were allowed to leave our luggage for the whole day. When we came back, we were even offered a room to take a shower, change, and reorganize our bags. That was absolutely amazing! We didn’t use the offer, but the level of care meant a lot to us.
Also, throughout our stay, we could always come by for tea or coffee, and there were always desserts available — such a nice touch.
Overall, this is one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. We will definitely come back! And thank you again to the wonderful, kind, and professional staff.

Wonderful
Beautiful older style building in a great location not far from main areas with great access to metro. Staff were excellent and attentive and breakfast and services were great. Appreciated that they had quiet hours between 11 pm to 7 am. My floor had three separate bathrooms for all the guests on the floor, which made it easy for sharing. Bathrooms and common areas were always clean and organized which was wonderful.
I’m use to a lot more air conditioning from where I come from and the room I was staying in did not have a fan (ceiling fan or standing fan) and so most nights I had to sleep with the window cracked for any air ventilation. So I PERSONALLY would have preferred some form of air circulation in the room itself or even just the extra option for something in the room, but overall it wasn’t manageable and isn’t ruin my experience. Just something to keep in mind if you are used to more AC at home.

We arrived quite early (at 10am) and the staff said we could have breakfast on the house while we wait for the room to be ready! We have never had that in a hotel before that they just give you complimentary breakfast on the day of your arrival. Amazing hospitality! Also: Beautiful, clean and light filled rooms. Certainly best value for money in Lisbon! Would always stay here again.

Good
Proximity to the metro and local restaurants, (free) breakfast, nicely appointed room, and attentive staff
The road noise was a bit distracting, but it eventually subsided.

Wonderful
The place smells great, clean. Beds are super comfy. Great breakfast. Free coffee and tea all day.
The only thing I miss is a bathrobe. Since the bathroom is shared, you don't want to walk there with only a towel.

It’s very cozy, comfortable bed and pillow.
It’s pretty noisy in the morning when other guest woke up and few guests rang the door bell in midnight to check in.
