We really enjoyed our stay at Casa do barao. The hosts were super friendly and helpful and gave us great recommendations for places to eat and other activities. We especially enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the greasy baked pastries that were free all day long. Even the other guests were fun to talk to. Magdelena gave us a great restaurant to try on our way out of town even!
The only issue we experienced in our room was the hot water controllers in the shower. It as tricky to get an even water temperature.

Its in a spot near a lot of great attractions, history, and restaurants. Staff were great, room was really good.
No down sides, using this sections for basics for folks. Take metros and trains. Bring euro power adapter. Use esim to make sure you have cell data, recommend Saily app which allows preloading ahead of time in home country. Euro and rest of world uses WhatsApp. Book tours and popular restaurants ahead of time.

Great location; small, charming hotel with staff that can’t do enough for you. Rooms are lovely with lots of light. Also, there are common areas to just sit and relax. Homemade cakes and treats available for guests.

We really loved our time in Lisbon, in large part due to the wonderful stay at Casa do Barao. The rooms were large and comfortable, and amenities better than we expected. The best part was the service provided by the staff, especially Madalena and Joanna. From our initial check-in, we were warmly greeted and provided a good overview of the area. We really appreciated the local tips for traveling to Sintra. Madalena was so sweet and helped us with restaurant reservations at great, walkable locations and booked our early morning taxi to the airport so we wouldn't be waiting on an Uber. 10/10, and we hope to visit again!
The location of this property is perfect. You can walk to public transportation easily and feel like you are right in the city, but we found the property extremely quiet and the backyard serene.

the inside had a living room /den area for all to enjoy wine or late night to just hang out - very cozy

Everything from the moment the taxi door opened. Jasmine heard my voice and opened the door to greet me in. She was delightful as was Joanna. Professional, friendly, and helpful.
The atmosphere was fabulous, the breakfasts were elegant and the freshly made cakes and brownies everyday and the white port in the evening were incredible touches. I have already told so many people about Casa Do Barao! No need for more than word of mouth I think :-)

We loved the location of the property and felt safe walking to all the restaurants and beautiful stores nearby.
The absolute best thing about the property is how we felt when we walked in. We were greeted by Madalena who immediately made us feel at homeab. She walked us around the first floor and showed us the public rooms with interesting artwork and bookcases full of antiques and interesting items collected by the owner from his travels. We were shown where we would be eating breakfast everyday, which was either outside in a beautiful green tropical oasis with water sounds from a fountain, or inside if the weather did not permit.
Angela and her wonderful assistant made the most delicious breakfasts and always had 3 different cakes out if you wished for afternoon tea or later. I can’t say enough about how hard working all the ladies who run this bed and breakfast were. We miss you all, and Madalena, we instantly missed you and Lisbon when we got in the taxi to leave.

The whole place felt like home. The premium room with balcony was one of the most comfortable stays during all my travels. The all day cakes, cookies, tea, coffee and all evening portwine were very thoughtful. It made me feel like I was entering my own personal space in my kitchen at home and helping myself to treats after a long day at work or outside. The garden and swimming pool are oases to
relax.
The staff at the front desk are the friendliest I have known.
The shower is strong, good wifi, central location and delicious breakfast.
The place is clean, welcoming, spacious and has a good energy about it. So relaxing! Loved staying here. Highly recommend it for a homely stay in Lisbon.

Everything went well from the moment my family and I stepped through the door.
The warm hospitality from Magdalena, Joanna, the cook and cleaners!
Not only were the rooms beautiful, all of the shared spaces are equally stunning in their own way; from the pool area, breakfast/dining area, sitting room with books.
That we had to leave.
