Lovely setting and design: so many plants and trees. Everything clean and tidy. Great staff. All good.
The food was not as good on this visit when compared to previous ones. Seemed as though there might have been some cost cutting in this area.

Good standard of accommodation, easy walking distance from Funchal. The garden element gives nice feel to the property and provides shady areas. Food good . Pool was a nice size for swim and not heated so refreshing

We would return during a cooler part of the year. Our fault, we didnt recognize there is no A/C during which our room was hot to warm late in August. Staff accommodated our request for extra towels for our frequent showers to cool off. The buffet breakfast was very nice, as well as the menu & snack bar items by the pool during the day, as well as the ice provided at the bar on request. The small kitchen would have been more utilized during cooler weather. We visited the Pestana Ocean hotel ( with A/C) for an included dinner reservation & facilities appear more upscale, but decided we liked the coziness of the Pestana Garden better overall, but needed to book during cooler weather.
Lack of A/ C, refrigerator worked poorly & put out a lot of heat & adequate parking is lacking, despite a daily charge which doesnt guarantee a parking spot.

Lovely relaxed feeling, liked the rustic portuguese decor, the staff were lovely and the buffet was excellent beautiful gardens and a lovely pool. Being able to dine at different Pestana hotels (some 5 star) as part of the half board was a lovely bonus. Very happy with our stay.
Don't think the Poncho was up to scratch....a small niggle

Grounds are lovely, hotel has a relaxed feel.
Room was well maintained and comfortable.
Pool are was great. Spotlessly clean and it was easy to seek shade as needed.
We liked that this hotel was off the main streets but close enough to easily go to more lively spots as we liked.
Temperatures were high (up to 30) during our visit and the lack of air conditioning was noticeable - the room ceiling fan was a help but not a solution.

Convenient location, not too central but easy enough to walk into town. Friendly staff and clean rooms/facilities. Kids had a great time! Good variety of food available!

We've enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It's nice, quiet, clean and green. The staff is friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Nelio, Carlos, Rubel, Claudia, Hassan, and many others for making it a vacation to remember. It'll be great to come back!
