Wonderful
Location was a factor when choosing this hotel; close enough to downtown Funchal yet far enough to avoid the busyness and we were not disappointed. Pestana Vila Lido is located right on the ocean front where all rooms had an ocean view...amazing. Breakfast provided a wide variety for all food sensitivities. Thanks to Miguel, Ismael and staff for being so accommodating. We will return.
Very hard to find something not to like about this hotel.

The noise from the ocean was lovely at night. Rooms were modern and clean. Breakfast was good. The front desk gentleman were very helpful and kind. Dec 25 at night and 26th before 11am gentleman that worked the desk- thank you! We wish we stayed here longer. We went to the Carlton owned by the same company and it was horrible.
Some of the carpet was very outdated. But clean.

Very good location, since we have a car the private parking is very convenient, gated and in and out at any time. Absolutely beautiful view from our balcony.
If I had to say anything, the onsite restaurant is a bit pricey, we did not eat there but choose a short walk to many food options

All the staff was wonderful.

The á la carte restaurant was not good. Very expensive compared to the low quality, poor looking and even almost bad food. The loud live bar music is very inappropriate for an a la carte restaurant in a 5 star hotel as we could hardly hold up conversations. The staff was very nice, but I would never visit the restaurant again.

I love that it had direct access to the ocean for swimming and the hotel is strategically located 360 view so so beautiful the ocean the garden...its a little eden by the ocean. The rooms are spacious and clean. I had an amazing stay here.

Great location. Breakfast was good and the views are amazing. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff had a small birthday cake in the room for us. Very nice touch.
There was a strange odor in our room when we checked in. After leaving the window open and running the ac and fan it went away.

Beautiful spacious room with a sea view, delicious breakfast, attentive friendly staff, great location next to the sea and with bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Nothing other than we did think the hotel parking fee was high,€15 a day. We parked in the public car park opposite for €4.50 a day.

Practically everything - views from the balcony, excellent breakfast buffet, great location, clean rooms and all premises, polite and respectful staff, nice pool- what's not to like about it. We could come back again.
To be picky, some furnishings felt a little outdated, but it did not spoil the overall impression. We really liked everything.
