Exceptional
Loved the sixties "mid century" architecture, and the view from our room was breathtaking.
Staff was uniformly exceptionally polite and helpful.
Our airconditioner dripped into the entryway, soaking the carpet. Not a big issue, but it needed to be attended to.

+balcony and amazing view from the room (we were on the 17th floor)
+bathtub
+good proximity to city center and many restaurants nearby to go for dinner
+fast elevators (despite many floors and many people)
+many sunbeds and umbrella was given easily upon request
-hairdryer was broken, so we had to go to reception and ask for a new one
-quite poor breakfast (max. 3/5 stars). It was quite difficult to find what to eat and the breakfast area is too small, so it gets crowded extremely fast (long queues to get food). During 1 week stay we were never allowed to eat outside, because every morning we were told that it’s all full (even though we could see some empty tables from the inside).
-during the cleaning, someone forgot to lock our door, so when we returned to the room the door was completely open
-for some reason it is not allowed to pay by cash in restaurants (only by card, which is a bit convenient to take card to the pool area)
-towels could be exchanged only during the room cleaning time (so needed to wait or go find a housekeeper to get new towels)
-cold water in the ocean and pools

The room is very spacious . The staff were nice especially Goncalo Gomes the guy at the reception who helped us a lot and created a whole itinerary for the stay, he was very nice
They didn’t clean the room in a good way (they didn’t change the sheets throughout the whole stay)
There was no diversity in the food

The breakfast was great! The pools were incredible! Along with the access to the Atlantic Ocean.
One of the corners in our room was completely falling apart. All of the tape & drywall was deteriorating.

Property is stunning and has two great pools and lounge decks. The rooms are nice and comfy and clean.
The parking situation is not guaranteed. There is a pay to park lot on the property that has about 20 spots and another lot below the property that is free but getting a spot is not guaranteed. You may have to park at Savoy Palace hotel lot and pay there, and that lot closes at night.

Facilities was good and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent, always fresh and had a good variety.
Parking was a bit of an issue as there were not enough bays available which meant I had to pay extra for parking although the hotel advised that free parking is available. For the price I would expect access to the warm pools be made available to kids later, I do understand the spa area is for relaxation but the ground zero (0) pool area I would expect kids to have later access as it is far away from the spa and do not see how this disrupts guests, when families with kids are also there to have a fun time. The staff at the outdoor bar area was not all that friendly and informative where card machines were not working and only informed after ordering that payment need to be made by cash.

Great hotel, resort, many pools, private beach, great room, balcony facing the ocean, small presents everyday on the bed, pub attached to the hotel, great lobby with live music everyday, great location- close to the centre of Funchal, many restaurants and coffee shops near the hotel just minutes walking.
They had a bath tub in the room and not shower.
We didn’t like the food in the restaurants- it was pretty common and simple in breakfast and in dinner. It was nice but less than we expected from a 5 star hotel.

Location was superb. Staff were very friendly and helpful, in particular, the doorman, G Rodrigues and the officer , Gomez, who dealt with our check -in.
Evening entertainments were lovely.
Food was good.
Very helpful staff in room service .
Happy to recommend and definitely visit again.
As a negative fact, wish to say that the house-keeping staff should pay more attention to the kettles and irons that are provided to the guests.
I had a family room.( 1110).
Quite spacious but housekeeping staff should pay more attention to the kettles and irons they provide. I had to ask the staff to change them.
No bottles of water were provided and no milk sachets..
Temperatures in the sauna and the steam rooms were not up to the required temperature levels. No staff were around for any help.
A suggestion, there should be a light for the big mirror near the second sliding door.

Excellent location, a short stroll to the marina. The breakfast was very tasty with lots of options and a lovely outdoor balcony. The outdoor pool was great.
The car park is extremely tight and difficult to navigate down the ramp which is frequently blocked by something and you don't know until you get to the end of the ramp if
there is space or not and then have to reverse back up if none. The upstairs parking is expensive for what it is. It is a pleasant hotel overall but does not have the attention to detail that one would expect from a 5 star hotel.
