The facility is really well placed, walking distance to a small openair mall and the views are amazing. The overall staff was helpful and tried to help where they could and even offered us complimentary breakfast because we arrived 5-6 hours before the check-in time. They set out a separate bed for our child which was amazing and the room was spacious and the ocean view was truly one-of-a-kind. The swimming pools were well kept and the timings were very gracious so you could enjoy a swim for most of the day.
The buffet's included in halfboard (breakfast/dinner) seemed weak, the coffee was always burnt or just murky water, the cups and cutlery was almost always stained and not properly cleaned for the buffets. There were not a lot of options for vegetarians or people trying to avoid alcohol in their meals. The major issue was the beds were very uncomfortable and I woke up everyday with a backache (stayed 3 nights).

It’s always too hot & muggy , no air conditioning anywhere in main areas . Room AC ran 24/7 & only then was it just comfortable enough - never got “cool “

The staff was super helpful, and we enjoyed the terrace/pool very much.
The spa opens at 4 PM, which unfortunately didn’t align with our schedule, as we tended to spend our afternoons and evenings out. We had hoped to use it in the mornings after breakfast, but it wasn’t operational at that time. It would be much more accommodating if the hotel offered more flexible hours or allowed guests to request spa access outside the set schedule. After all, guests have different plans but are all paying for the same amenities.

Great hotel and wonderful staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a family suite which overlooked the pools. The breakfast was pretty good, lots of selections. Location was ideal. Near the water and walking path.

It was our first time visiting Madeira, and we were pleasantly surprised by the experience.
Although we unfortunately missed dinner on our first night, the young gentleman at reception welcomed us warmly with an aperitif and kindly informed us that dinner had been arranged for us in our room. It was exactly what we needed after our journey.
Our room was well-suited for three people, with two comfortable beds for my wife and me, and an additional bed for our daughter.
Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, offering a wide variety of options to choose from. The hotel grounds were absolutely beautiful—immaculately clean, with an abundance of vibrant plants and flowers creating a truly lovely atmosphere.

The hotel I may have the elements to pass as a five star, however it’s at best a mediocre 4 star standard. The hotel is tired. The rooms and beds and towels are just passable. The gym is antiquated. The pool needed a clean. The restaurants are industrial.

Nice view of the ocean and gardens. Room looked smart and tidy. Hotel looked clean and is in a lovely location on an outcrop of the island.
This room is advertised as having a "panoramic sea view" however this is very misleading as we found out from the receptionist that the rooms with panoramic sea views are suites and not the ones we booked. Mattresses are not very comfortable, however the beds were clean. There is no extractor fan in the bathroom so there is no ventilation or option to clear the bathroom of steam and smells; also every time you have a shower, the water leaks outside the bathtub. We also ordered the half-board as part of booking, however we were surprised that soft drinks and tea drinks are an additional charge during dinner time. It would have been more considerate if the waiter had let us know that this is an additional charge before we placed the order as it was a shock to us when we got up to leave. On the second night we came down to have the buffet dinner at 9pm however we were turned away because they had run out of food - this was really disappointing and we didn't get any option to be refunded for this. TVs in the room are not SMART TVs so you can't login to Netflix or Disney plus.

It was an absolutely lovely breakfast served by commited personel.
More avalibilty at personel which made omelette have been nice. It took a while but it was worth waiting for. :-)
