"I recently stayed at this hotel and had an amazing experience! The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfy. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had plenty of options. The hotel's location was perfect, right in the heart of the city. Highly recommend!"

Very Good
Good central location that was not too far from either the old town or the airport, and in colder months would be nice to walk along the nearby beach. The staff was lovely and helpful and there is a taxi stand right out front that saved me when my Otaxi app decided to hide everything but "luxury" cars when I needed to get to a snorkeling booking. There is live music at the ground floor restaurant most days. The breakfast is continental with a few hot foods, and served in the Indian restaurant on the 6th floor as the one on the 2nd floor (which looks out over the pool) was under renovation.
The pool area was only open until 6 PM and only accessible through the 2nd floor restaurant (so although I would have liked to sit by the pool at night and read, this was impossible - and really too hot during the open times so I didn't get to use it at all over the 2 days). The restaurant on the ground floor is a place that locals hang out, so it was nice to easily go downstairs and get an (expensive) Stella. However, I love live music but I couldn't stand to be in there for long because they had it turned up SOOO loud, and one of the guitars was mixed way louder than the vocals. The first set was fine but when they turned the sound up for the DJ in between sets they left it that way and it was unbearable from the other side of the room. I was on the 5th floor so I could only faintly hear it in my hotel room. If you are sensitive to sound when you sleep, then please make sure they put you on the 5th floor or higher.

The bed was comfortable and the WiFi worked well. It was handy to have a safe. I used the electric kettle to make tea. But there was no spoon to stir in the powdered creamer.
The AC was so cold that it was extremely difficult to sleep. There was no way to adjust the temperature. I added layers of clothing and turned off the AC but the room was still chilly. After asking three times, I got an extra blanket. I also had a problem with the sink drain and it took several requests to get that fixed. Breakfast was simple with some fruit, bread, eggs, vegetables. Bring your own tea if you want something better than Liptons. The shower in my room was lukewarm and very low pressure so it was difficult to take a shower and almost impossible to wash your hair. Yet a person in a nearby room said her shower worked.

Fair
It's probably suitable for a short stay only. The hotel's location is pretty nice, especially for walking lovers. The staff was good and friendly but slightly defocused. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended.
It was deadly cold in our room, and the A/C settings didn't work. The bed was constantly cold and slightly damp, as was the room as a whole. Thin blankets and old bed linen.
There was a costly extra charge for checking in at an unspecified time [we had a night flight], which was not indicated anywhere during the booking process. To be clear, I paid 10 OMR for check-in, while the daily accommodation rate was 16 OMR.
Overall, everything is quite old and shabby. There are problems with towels in the pool. There was poor natural lighting in the room, and the sun didn't reach the room at all because of building construction features. It seemed that it was constantly cloudy outside, although it was not so.
Please note that if you order a taxi to the hotel from the Otaxi or Yango app after 15:00, you will only receive a luxury rate over 20 OMR, which is unreasonably expensive. However, this is not a disadvantage of the hotel; it is a specific feature of the time and area.
