A peaceful escape, with alpacas at your doorstep. Set on 4 acres of open gardens, Hideaway of Rotorua offers modern, self-contained accommodations in a quiet natural setting — just 6 minutes’ drive from Rotorua’s city center. Many of our units are newly built or recently renovated, with full kitchens, air conditioning, Smart TVs, and private decks that open onto green space. From studios to family-friendly units — with some larger options available — each space is designed to feel relaxed, private, and easy to settle into. Guests often tell us they love the open lawns, the quiet atmosphere, and the unexpected joy of watching alpacas graze just outside their window. We have four friendly alpacas (they’re a family!) and one cheeky sheep on-site — and if you’d like to feed them, pellets are available at reception. There’s also a large on-site play area with a trampoline, swings, a slide, and a sandpit — great for younger guests, while still leaving plenty of quiet corners for everyone else to enjoy. The location is great: very close to Rotorua main attractions. The rooms are generous. The bed and bathroom are great. The staff is very attentive. The guest book has a wealth of information. The guest laundry has good machines.

The location was good and we really liked feeding the alpacas and watching the newborn alpaca.
We didn’t realize that major renovations/construction would be taking place on the property. I thought we would be housed in a newer building but in fact we were in an older apartment.… It was clean but a bit disappointing. I think the new additional accommodations on the property will be lovely once finished in a few months time.

Wonderful
Traveling with an older teen, this place perfectly met our needs, as we were all in one unit, but there was a door between us overnight. The room had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and the alpacas were a delightful bonus.
Mostly it was great, and we will stay here again. The only negatives were noisy neighbours well outside the quiet zone time and a bathroom door that didn't stay open.

The room was spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed and pillows, the property had super cute alpacas and sheep that we enjoyed feeding, and the staff was very friendly and responsive.
they had a little bit of remodeling going on but we didn’t hear any noise from what they were working on so it really wasn’t an issue

The location is great. Just 10 minutes from Rotorua town. The alpacas, sheep, rabbits and playground were a huge hit with our kids. The room was specious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was large and the shower was great.
The kitchen can be a little more equipped, like having a bowl for salad.
