Rotorua Downtown Backpackers is a modern hostel is located in the heart of Rotorua across the road from the I-Site and major bus lines. Pleasant
The common areas were clean, huge tv, very cozy hang out spot. The kitchen seemed to have decent storage. It was a little small but never seemed crowded. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. All in all the atmosphere was very good and the room was decently quiet. Bed was nothing special(very standard for hostel. Squeaking metal bunk bed)but bedding was clean and cozy.
The shower in the ensuite bathroom seemed to have black mold. The surfaces such as the window sill(right by my head on the top bunk) was extremely dusty and had a lot of dead bugs. The window also had a small crack. Weird white marks all over the walls(I think possibly from their mopping solution for the floors??).

The location was great, right in the middle of the town and near the waterfront and thermal pools park. The room was clean and well kept, as was the kitchen. The staff were super lovely and helpful.
The kitchen was pretty small so moving around meant bumping into anyone else cooking.

Location . Very clean and staff really helpful
Too many bunks in the room. Top bunk couldn't sit up without hitting your head on ceiling Shower facilities too small and poor water pressure
