Close to Te Puia, red forest and the living village.
Not far from downtown and not far from Rotorua airport either.
It was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for my short stay. No A/C but it was nice and cool during my stay - they have standing fans available.
Toilet has a heated seat and auto flushed without issues.
I did not bring a car but it has designated parking.
I did not try the hot tub.
Staff are responsive and accomodating prior to and during my stay.
Overall, a good value for solo travelers. I would stay again

The heated pool was nice and the suite was well equipped with kitchen items. We had a very comfortable stay. The place seemed like parts had been recently renovated. I liked the laundry facilities.

What a wonderful surprise this little place was. Great location for so many of the must see places in Rotorua. Make sure you do the redwood forest walk at night as well as a free walk during the day to appreciate the magnitude of these trees. When you do the night experience, it is imperative that you get the fastpass to simplify the process - or you will wait in line for hours. It is definitely worth it. The best surprise about this hotel was the heated toilet seat and well appointed kitchenette. We loved this comfy inn.

The beds, bedding, and towels were great, the rooms were spacious and clean. Grateful to have the laundry room to use.
It’s not an ideal place to stay without a car (our fault for choosing the place, not theirs!) The rooms could use warmer/softer lighting options. Table lamps?

We absolutely loved this place! Staff was very friendly, lots of privacy, huge room with private hot tub outside in gated garden, free laundry - we wish we could've stayed longer!

Great location, easy access. Easy parking right at the door. Large space for a couple.
The room has a private backyard with a gate leading to the central pool area and a private spa. We didn't use the spa as it was just a big bath with water hoses to fill it. No option to cover the spa once for additional use. We didn't want to waste time on filling the water, checking the temperature and refilling. It was not what I expected and surely isn't worth the extra cost for the spa

The motel is well set out with good amenities. The pool and bbq area were fantastic.
Servicing of the rooms could be better. Didn’t supply enough towels for the amount of people we had in the room and never replenished the sugar, tea, coffee and milk etc. Beds were never made

The Alpin Motel offered two-room suites with kitchenettes, a private outdoor hot tub, a community swimming pool, and free laundry. All at a very reasonable price. Could this be real? It was! The motel appeared to have been recently renovated, and it had great features like an electronic toilet, a fancy Dyson hair blow dryer, good lighting, a heat lamp over the shower, excellent water pressure, nice dishes and utensils in the kitchenette, good quality sheets and pillows... really! Plenty of outlets. Plenty of hooks. What's not to love? Did I mention free laundry? A private parking space at your door? No stairs?
I have nothing negative to say. Know that it is a motel. The carpet wasn't fabulous. The private hot tub was really just a soaking tub outside with hot water faucets... no jets. But it was fun and good and hot. I gave the location 4 out of 5... it is definitely off the beaten path and nothing is walkable, but it was very near the Rotorua Forest Park and everything else was just a quick drive away. None of these were things I did not like. I liked everything.
