It was one of the most beautiful locations and properties! The rooms were amazing and had the best views. The staff was nice and extremely helpful and had the best food! Vladimir makes the best Negronis! Highly recommend.

We liked everything Matakauri had to offer. The staff were more like friends and treated us like family. Sitting in the lounge in front of the fireplace enjoying the view of the mountains was absolutely stunning. AND the food was fabulous!!
We cannot think of anything that could be improved on. Attentive and friendly staff. Gardeners, housekeepers, wait staff and managers all were exceptional.

The position of the propery is great, only about 10 mins out of town and right on the lake, the views were outstanding!
The rooms are spacious and well thought out to capture the view from all angles, very private, a lovely bath with a view of the lake/mountains and Im all about a walk in wardrobe to hide the luggage in.
There are nice tracks down by the lake to go for walks and a jetty to swim off if your game.
There were a lot of staff and they were all extremely attentive.
I found the dining/lounge area a touch quiet and lacking a bit of atmosphere but lovely all the same. (maybe it was just a quiet couple of days, only 2 other guests)
I also would personally have loved to open the windows and let some fresh air in.

Lovely atmosphere
Only thing was the hand towels in our room. We prefer hand towels to face clothes size for drying hands.

I loved the rooms: they were nice and clean, very tidy and cozy; the fireplace was very nice as well and the bed was very comfortable. I loved the direct view of the mountains and the peacefulness.
