Easy access and parking if you have a car.
The host locked the access to the en suite to force us to use the main bathroom that was upstairs. I presume to save themselves some cleaning. The apartment is a bit tired and for the price you pay it's really not good value for money.

Not much very over priced for the quality of accommodation presented .
Our stay at Gateway Apartments Queenstown was extremely disappointing. The advertised four-star rating is not reflected in the actual standard of accommodation.
On arrival, we were greeted only by a sticky note on an unmanned reception desk, which immediately set the tone. Inside the apartment we found a broken toilet seat, stained and dirty carpet, unclean kitchen utensils, and mismatched single beds of different sizes. These issues made the apartment feel poorly maintained and below even basic expectations.
This is especially frustrating because the property is in a great location and has the potential to be an excellent place to stay. Unfortunately, it feels like the focus has shifted to maximising profit rather than maintaining acceptable standards for guests paying premium prices.
For context, my Booking.com profile reflects extensive travel across a wide range of accommodation types worldwide, and this experience ranks among the worst I have had. I hope the owners take this feedback seriously and invest in improving the quality and upkeep of the property.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy check in and checkout. Nice location between airport and Queenstown. Had all amenities needed. Easy access to roads to drive to other towns.

It was roomy and quite comfortable.
It was in need of upkeep and maintenance. And painting. Walls were dirty and very marked up. Most of the art work was removed and just hooks on the walls. Could be quite lively for very little extra time or money. Traffic in and out was very bad.

The property could have been really nice with a few updates.
Needs updates badly. The property could be really nice with some updates and care. The furniture was very worn, especially the couches, and there were marks and nails all over the walls. Did not see anyone at reception while we were there. It was supposed to be open, but the only person who helped us was the cleaner. Hard to see where to turn off the main road from the one direction, as their sign is behind a large traffic sign.

The location was very nice, the view as you exit with the mountains was great. A very short walk to the lake and local bakery was great. The staff were helpful when needed.
There was a smell in the apartment we could not get rid off. We opened the doors and windows we bough a candle, but sill smelt a bit stale. The apartment itself was a bit tired, everything worked as was a good as it could be but rundown compered to the other 4 places we stayed at in NZ for less money this apartment would be ranked last.

Great location close to the airport and great facility for up to 4 people.
I got a sperate bed which was free of charge, but the mattress was so thin I was latterly on top of the metal. The other double beds were great so if you are with only 4 people you are OK.

Possibly the worst stay we've had in a very long time anywhere, the place smelled bad, the dishware was not clean, one room did not have a functioning light and worst of all bed sheets on two of the beds had big blood stains on them, which is a major health hazard. It took two in-person requests over two days to get them to provide fresh clean sheets (though even finding staff to seek assistance from was difficult as they never seemed to be around). The first request was simply not followed up on. They bizarrely tried to claim we had refused fresh sheets (which makes no sense!), they then blamed the company that cleans the sheets for doing a bad job (before recanting that), even though their staff should never have put dirty sheets on a bed in the first place (afterwards simultaneously claiming their staff had done nothing wrong but also one had been fired for bad performance?).
In following up with management after the trip to try and provide friendly but frank feedback for improvement, they have not taken our complaints seriously, instead seeking to blame us for the stains (despite us removing the sheets from the beds on discovery of the stains and not using them, as any normal person would, while awaiting replacements). This is simply not the quality one should expect from an accommodation provider claiming to be 4 star and charging NZD 800 a night. Do not stay here.

The location
No one was there to meet us even though it was the middle of the afternoon. There was a notice saying only contact if fire or emergency - if you call for other reason there is a $500 fine.
Electric kettle leaked and the base needed drying before it could be used. A half drunk can of redbull was left in the fridge.
