Located 5 minutes' drive from the center of Queenstown, Kamana Lakehouse offers stunning views over Lake Wakatipu and the iconic Remarkables mountain range. Each beautiful, air-conditioned room features contemporary decor, premium beds, USB charging ports, free WiFi, and an outdoor seating area. Nest is growing lasting roots in our local Central Otago environment. We bring you delicious foraged herbs, seeds and wild ingredients, and nurture key partnerships with local farmers, growers and fishermen. There is always something new and exciting at Nest. We update menu items with the four seasons, and bring unique creations to light every week in our five course degustation experience. All thoughtfully designed towards an aspirational “zero waste” dining experience. Kamana Lakehouse is just 5 minutes' walk from the entrance of Fernhill Loop Track and Ben Lomond Track for easy access to some of New Zealand's native nature. It is well serviced by activity operators and close to local ski fields. We wish to share an important note with our guests: From April 2024 onwards, neighboring areas in close proximity to the hotel are currently undergoing extensive development work. Our hotel and facilities remain fully operational, however we do wish to share that guests could possibly experience the sound impact during the hours of Monday-Saturday, 8am-6pm. Our Lakeview Luxe and Tahuna Lakeview room categories are located adjacent to the development and may therefore have their views impacted at times. Room was comfortable and spacious. The hotel restaurant and bar was also great.
The value for money seemed to be lacking. For close to AUD 650 per night, there seemed to be a large lack of services, amenities and staff assistance.

The view from Nest restaurant is amazing. That’s what got us there.
View from our room quite obstructed by the hotel roof and overlooked the car park. I was expecting more for the price. U fortunately building going on in front of the hot tubs detracted a lot from the experience.

Moving around the property was a bit awkward at times. It is a long way away from the town, but this gives it the exceptional views.

The interiors of bar /dining and the view of the lake.
The hotel itself looked dated once you stepped out of the lobby and dining areas. You can tell they spent all their time on the common areas and neglected the rooms. Hospitality was poor for the amount you’re paying. The restaurant was fully booked out so we had to settle for bar food only. They don’t advertise it but they have HUGE construction going on right in front of the property. If you walk out on to their main deck it’s just below it and in front of their spa and other guest rooms. I travel to Queenstown often and I usually stay at the St Moritz which is bar far superior for similar money and closer to town. Only reason I booked this location was because they offered rooms with 2 beds for my travel dates at a “high end” hotel level.

Incredible view, amazing restaurant, great staff. Parking onsite which made things easier. Our room had a lake view and was gorgeous to wake up to. The restaurant view was amazing as well.
Given the price of the room, it would have been great to have a porter to help with bags etc. But this is not common in NZ hotels, sadly. Otherwise, the staff were great. The soak pools no longer have a view which was disappointed, but we were not charged to use them, thankfully.
