the bed while not the most comfy was certainly not the worst, the room was exceptionally large, even with the idea of sharing it with 5 others it really was a huge space that i could actually see as a proper apartment if put on the market

Great place to stay and close to pubs and restaurants. Shortish walk to the city centre and supermarkets.
Still maintains most of the original features of the prison.
Rooms are small but that's what you would expect from a former jailhouse.

Location was great for travelling on the Tranz Alpine train the next day. It was a novelty to stay in the old jail. My double bed was really comfortable. Check in was easy. Loved the cats.
It would have been nice to be told where the toilets and showers were located by staff when I entered.

Access to public transport was very easy, with a convenience store located close by. Staff were friendly and the facilities were always clean. The check in/out process was super easy as well

I liked the building and I thought it was well maintained. I liked how easy it was to book in
I didn't like that I couldn't open the outside door on arrival and I was hoping to borrow a charging block but there were none to borrow
