The owners were suer friendly, breakfast was a good spread, the shower was nice, the bed was comfy, the location was excellent for what I needed.
As a woman travelling by herself, only having one key for the front door and my room indicated that I could unlock any other room in the hotel, and vice versa which felt less safe. There was no soap in the shared toilet.

Nothing. When I walked in I knew I had made a mistake booking it. The property was very shabby with creeky floorboards and carpet on the walls! The woman gave me the key and I went up to the very top to see the room. I was very uncomfortable but also didnt want to say anything. I contemplated leaving but I couldnt lose the £100 and it was a non refundable booking.
The room was very dirty. All fixtures, fittings and furniture were old and grubby. I was tired and had no money to book somewhere else.

Very old fashioned Dutch style hotel: single glass windows which means very poor (inexistant) sound proofing and isolation.

The ceiling fan was loose, when the bathroom extractor was on a bad oder filled the bathroom temporarily

when I reached the Staten Hotel the first day, I was told by the lady at the reception (upstairs) that I should go to Excelsior hotel which was nearby and owned by her Brother, she didn;t tel me why! so I went to Excelsior Hotel which is not far from Staten Hotel and it is almost the same style/level and I paid the same rate, the location is excellent close to the conference center and the Fredrick Hendricklaan where there are many shops and supermarkets. Tram station is just in front of the door!
I was not able to make a cup of tea or coffee in the room as there was no kettle/cup and I had to go downstairs and ask for hot water if I could find the owner although he was a nice person and provided hot water a couple of times but not always available.. i was given a voucher to have breakfast at a cafe next to the Hotel which had nice breakfast (only 3 options) and nice coffee

I enjoyed staying in Staten Hotel . It was nice cozy and feel like home away from home. Great value for money. Neat clean well maintained. The classic theme of the hotel property was preserved with time. Hotel reception lady was very helpful to explain things and also very kind to adjust the days due to my last minute office work change. Breakfast was very good. Lots of veriety in breakfast. Internet was easy to connect and speed was good. There are restaurents just stone throw distance from the hotel. There are tram and bus stops near by that I used to attend my conference. Very much recomended.
