Freezing room - housekeeping always put the radiator on very cold position although we left it on hot position Extremely noisy earlier in the morning (construction site in imediate proximity) No fresh air - no opening windows Expensive and not tasty food at the cafeteria

I loved the view. The staff were friendly. They gave me exceptional help in getting back me phone I left in the Uber. I felt like they really cared. And they also support your privacy and independance.
The arrangement of the room was slightly not right. Having the TV in front of the window meant you had to close the curtains to watch. The coffee maker was on the other side of the room from the sink. The food market is handy and economical. But the check out computer is not user friendly. And there is too much plastic packaging and the pastries are stale. And it is not really close to public transport.

Great hotel--excellent location and good facilities. For breakfast, you pay by the item, which is a little strange. However, staff will help you as needed. Room was small but well-appointed and clean.

Excellent location, stylish, very clean (and I am very particular about this), and with a good refrigerator in the room. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was great!
This is only a three-star hotel so there aren’t any extra perks like slippers, robes, or drinks in the lobby. Also, the front desk staff are all very nice, but it’s clear they don’t have hospitality training.

Friendliness of hotel staff, spotless room, very comfortable bed, nice food market available and ability to watch my own Netflix and YouTube on the tv.
I was in Rotterdam for a music festival and at night the walk to the hotel from Centraal station was creepy and felt a little unsafe. Luckily it was only 15 min but I would have preferred if it was closer. Not the hotels fault though. Everything else about it was great.

Reception staff were excellent they gave us a warm welcome and were helpful storing our bags. The twin room was super clean and beds very comfortable. Bathroom was well laid out and shower was amazing. On site mini shop/cafe operates on a self serve pay as you go basis with a great range of food and drink with adjacent sitting area. Hotel is in a perfect location to explore the city.
The James is an excellent hotel there was nothing to dislike.

Poor service
At approximately 2:45 PM, housekeeping knocked and requested to clean the room. I informed them that we had just returned and asked if they could please come back later. Shortly after, I received a phone call from reception stating that if we did not leave the room immediately, it would not be cleaned until the following day because housekeeping finishes at 3:00 PM. I find this situation unacceptable. We were out of the room for over four hours, yet no cleaning was done during that time. It is unclear why the room was not serviced between 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM while we were absent. Being pressured to leave the room or be denied cleaning until the next day is not the level of service I expected.
