The service was fantastic, and the room was nice and cosy. The breakfast was great, with a wide selection of pastries/cakes/fruits/vegetables in a venue with nice decor. I enjoyed hot dishes including potato stew and cooked tomatoes. The hotel interior has a nice retro-modern feel, like airline service in the 1960s. The lobby and breakfast venue were memorable. The staff were attentive, helpful, and very friendly. My room was upgraded, and their hospitality was very memorable. Wi-Fi worked well, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was OK. The hotel is located conveniently in the city center - next to a department store and across the city hall - but not at all noisy at night. I felt the room fare was very competitive given the location and services. Overall, I had a fantastic stay.
Emotionally it's 10/10, but one thing I'd write for reference is temperature control. My room had a couple of old heaters and a fan, but it was not easy to change the temperature of the room on a chilly night in May. It did not bother me too much, though.

Very easy to get to shops bars etc
This is an old hotel and some areas appear a little dated. On the other hand there are some very interesting period features to see.

The location was very good and there was plenty to see around the hotel. The value was good as well for this star rating.
Beds were very stiff and hard, there was a lot of noise from the hallway and other rooms. Cleaning people were very loud and for some reason were just outside of my room for most of the day. As the doors weren't sealed on the bottom, you could hear everything from the other rooms as well. The fridge had leftover food from the previous guest so the cleaning was not up to standards.

The room is spacious. The location is great. The history of the building is worth looking into. Housekeeping was great, and the room was very clean.
I booked a refundable room, and when I wanted to check out a day early, and they still charged me for the last night, as I booked through Booking. Booking tried to help me, but I never received a solution. Personally I didn't like the pillows on the bed.

The staff is friendly, and extra props for the cleaning staff. They were still working hard to even get the room ready in time and came in to check if indeed they had done everything.
The view from the room was nice and the bathroom was spacious. Linen was clean and towels soft, always a plus.
Location is great, at walking distance from pretty much anything you would want and need in Rotterdam.
I filled in a request, for a reason too as my friend and I both struggle with nightmares, but the hotel ignored it. I feared as much when filing the request, as the answer seemed like a bot over mail. I even opted to upgrade in case that was the only way to get the twin bed. Wasn't even mentioned. We had to wait and staff was very obviously overwhelmed by swarms of people coming in, causing my friend and I to be ignored. I don't fault the staff, they try to do their best, but it is far from ideal and as they were rushing, they just forgot us.
A barely queen size really wasn't big enough... Instead, and this is kind of awkward... My friend and I got cramped in a tiny room (the bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom), with too small a bed, barely a way to walk around, a door that was struggling to open and a very awkward cramped way to get from the 'mini hallway' to either the bathroom or the bedroom. You cannot maneuver your way normally from the bedroom to the bathroom. Not to mention the noise the stuck door makes!
The bathroom was good, great even, despite some awkward angles, but the room was very disappointing. Not for lack of trying. We didn't appreciate the very soft mattress (but if you like it, this one is for you) and flat 'pillows'.
Also, the hotel put the heating on at maximum, with the sun shining into the room, making it uncomfortably hot in there. The heating was dusty too, pretty gross, but I'll forgive the poor, probably underpaid, cleaning staff for that. They were sweethearts, and honestly, I have huge respect for them even trying to clean in a space where you can barely move.

Location is in the middle of the city centre, everything can be reached by foot.
No parking lot or discounts for the nearby parking garage.
Bathroom is a bit old and needs some renovations.
