Wonderful
The he location in front of the train station is ideal. The room is clean and neat. The bed is very comfortable. Coffee and water is available at the reception.

Disappointing
location was good easy to access most of the city.
No real lobby or reception, so if waiting for friends or colleagues one is left standing often for some time. While there were nice touches like coffee and tea as well as water and a small muffins, they were left out unattended and in the plein air not very sanitary. The beer was so overpriced and I was more offended when later found that I could buy a six pack just around the corner for less than the hotel charged for the one can. That is just shortsighted business, maximizing profit over customer loyalty. The room was oddly chopped up with a room for a shower, a separate room for the toilet, and yet having the sink at the end of my bed it made for an uncomfortable discontenueity to use the restroom, then jump in the shower and brush my teeth as they all had to occur in separate rooms. Shower drain backed-up on the second night, while they did address it while I was out, it was not something that should have occured on an unused utility. The sink in what should be a living room was dirty with yellowing caulk around the sind and tile. The room decor was dated by 10 years and that shows as the hotel is still clinging to its one moment in the spotlight, proudly showing an award they wone over a decade ago for best new hip hotel... it is no longer hip and looks desperate. what appears to be a connected restaurant with an entrance from the hotel lobby (such as it is), is not part of the hotel and likely was sold off to remain afloat is likewise dated and dingy. To access the overpriced breakfast one must exit the hotel, go around the corner and reenter through an inaccessable vestibule of a room which is more akin to a stairwell then an functional dining rool. There are nicer breakfasts to be had for far less cost and with much greater choice. The staff were nice and appeared competent, forgiving the young woman who came to ask my room number multiple times during breakfast as if a suited professional would be so sophisticated as to employ this disguise for a bite.

Great location across the street from the train station. Surprisingly quiet. Room was small, but very clean. Shower was great. Loved the little sayings on the toiletries, walls, etc
Staff was very friendly and welcoming.
The ac kept defaulting back to 28 C so had to getup several times at night to reset. (It was unseasonably warm)

Wonderful
Overall, I had a lovely short stay here. Kaboom is located directly opposite Maastricht train station, which is extremely convenient. The decor is really lovely, the staff are friendly and I was upgraded to a larger room free of charge (I didn't ask for this, they just did it!) because the hotel was not fully booked. The room itself was excellent - comfy bed, good shower, TV, and a nice view. While the location is very central and convenient, there also wasn't much noise outside at night even though it was a weekend.
My only slight frustration was that the breakfast wasn't great. It wasn't awful, but there were no hot items, not a lot of choice of cheese, meats, salad items etc. and if I stayed at Kaboom again I would probably skip the hotel breakfast and eat at a local cafe instead.

The receptionist was great. I also liked the free water to drink.
There was no wfifi in the rooms, wish we would have known this at the time of booking. Also didn't like that we booked a King bed room and it was 2 small beds oushed together, although I have leanred that is just a dutch thing so not a big deal.

Really fun decor and vibe. Fun accomodations for a family of 4. Love that they offered kids a box of Legos at check-in. Nice breakfast, perfectly located to Maastricht Central too.
It's more self-serve than full service, not a problem, just good to know.

Very Good
Location, I came by car and the deal with the nearby parking garage was great. Walking to all the sights was easy and the train station across the way was good for exploring towns nearby. I did not use breakfast but Charlie's next door was a great café. The front desk managers were kind and helpful. I traveled by myself and felt safe and comfortable.
The safe, although playful with the theme of the hotel, on the floor was a little tricky to access. A comfy chair would have been nice so you didn't have to sit on your bed in between sight seeing rounds (but that's personal, I don't like sitting on a bed with "dirty" clothes). Suggestion add fun qoutes to the second and third flight of stairs. Your quotes around the hotel and on the first flight of stairs is fun, don't stop as you go higher.
