Wonderful
Location next to Leiden Centraal Station.
There is only one door for the toilet and shower area (a sliding door), so they must be used in turns.

Pleasant
Clean.
Bathrooms in the room had ZERO privacy. Very exposed when using toilet. Actually, worst bathroom set up I have ever experienced. We did not use the toilet in our room. We use the toilets in the lobby. Access keys to room did not work on numerous occasions.
Air conditions was not working. Water was leaking from the AC vent on to the carpet.

Poor
I loved the interior of the rooms, it looked great and the view outside was amazing!
There were many leakages inside of the room, the bathroom wasn't clean, the sink drain was clogged even after we tried to put bleach in it and the check-in took almost 25 minutes...
Prices also didn't match. It was supposed to be around 120 euro's and when I arrived they made me pay 175 euro's.
Next time we're going back to Van der Valk... So far the only hotel chain I have 0 complains abt.

Wonderful
Room was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked brilliantly. Large modern hotel in a great location next to the train station with a parking garage underneath the building.
Access to the swimming pool would have been nice outwith the 8am-9:30am (which we couldn't use as had to check out at 8am).

Fair
I was in Leiden for a friend's PhD dissertation. This hotel clearly is trying, but is a bit out of date. Because we didn't scroll all the way to the fine print at the bottom of booking.com, we didn't get that the pool is only publicly open from 8am-9:30am, and the spa requires paying an extra fee. That being said, the spa is totally worth the extra fees and probably the best thing about the hotel. The rooms are set up a bit funny, but was fine for my stay, the biggest issue was that using the smaller shower head floods the ENTIRE bathroom area, and I couldn't get the rain shower head to work. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were terrible, and the room was clean but clearly worn. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and nice, and the location is very convenient to LUMC and the rest of Leiden. One slightly inconvenient thing was that if you are above the 10th floor, you have to go down to the 10th floor to access a separate tower as all rooms aren't connected on each floor, which was only an issue for us because we had a group.

Pleasant
How big the room was and the layout, the staff was really pleasant, checking in and out was easy.
The room was really hot, 25 degrees and there was an air-conditioning unit but it was really loud so sleeping was not that great.

Very Good
Location next to the train station. Spa
No window, just one that connects to the internal area of the building, but it did not feel like any fresh air was coming in.

Very Poor
Nothing
The room quality was poor (sheets were stained) walls were thin, hallways dim, no security to prevent public from entering guest room floors, and you can only use the pool between 8-9:30 AM and after that you must be nude! We chose this place because it looked like the pool would be available for our child to use, but it turned out she could only use it over this time period. This information needs to be very clear on the listing, and not buried in the details of the hotel. Extremely disappointing and absolutely infuriating especially when you’ve been traveling for 14+ hours and your child wants to swim because you told them that they could when they get to the hotel!

Booking.com offer!
The suit was bad, doubt if it was a suit room and it looks like renovation is needed badly

Pleasant
Location and restaurant
It was not easy to find the entrance, they did not put the name of the hotel in a visible place from the Station side. The lady who checked me in at the reception on the first day was rude, not so friendly. The other staff were good and very helpful.
The coffee machine was broken,
There was only 1 wooden stick to mix coffee.
All the cups are cardboard. It was not convenient to use.
The wardrobe is very small. If you come for 5 days, there is no place to hang clothes.
There is no socket on the side with the desk, the socket is on the opposite side where the TV is, the TV is not on the wall, but attached to the lower part of the bed.
There are no bathrobes and towels, if you want any have to pay extra.
Only foam shampoo is provided, 1 in bath, 1 in hand washer, nothing else was provided. This was strange for a 4-star hotel.
You have to buy a toothbrush and toothpaste with money. There is no drinking water in the room.

Wonderful
Great value, directly next to the train station. Bed was very comfortable, room was a decent size and was generally well laid out. Staff were kind too!
Keycard for my room did not work throughout the stay, I was given a physical key to open the door. Not much privacy with the toilet/shower situation - there is only a sliding door that slides between the shower and toilet and you can see through from the side/above and there is no real door for the bathroom area. Would not recommend if sharing a room with someone you're not extremely comfortable with.

Wonderful
Location, facilities, staff, Congress meeting facilities.
Room temperature not adjustable, on the low side but they gave us additional electrical heater that compensated the situation
Pool open to the hotel residents only between 08:00-09:30 AM. Afterwards was used by a wellness club and the use of swimsuits was forbidden!!!
Also to go to 11th floor from the lobby (12th floor) or from the ground floor we should take an elevator to the 10th floor and then take another elevator after crossing all the 10th floor.

The option of using the spa for the day at reduced rate was very nice.
Due to our own fault, we had a challenge receiving a package delivery that arrived late. The hotel staff were extremely helpful in providing details on how to have it sent onward for delivery at our next destination.

The hotel couldn't be any more convenient to the train station, you walk outside, go into the LEVEL office building and up to the 12th floor. It is not well marked, we walked all around the building until we saw a sign stating that check in was back closer to the station.. Check in isn't until 3pm so they will let you store your bags. The room was the nicest we had on this trip, comfortable and clean. The shower had decent pressure, the other hotel we stayed at in Delft had horrible water pressure. Leiden center is 10-15 minute walk. You can cut through the train station to go to the city center by tapping your contactless card and tapping back out, it doesn't charge you.
The bathroom set up was a little weird, there was a sliding glass door so only the toilet or the shower door was closed. Thee toiletries were minimal, I thought a spa hotel would have a full range. And it didn't affect me, but the sink was really beat up.

Wonderful
Room was very clean and very spacious with a nice seating area, plenty of lighting which could be switched off as needed in different areas, as well as lamps. TV was OK, could do with a few more English speaking channels but was OK for its purpose. Fridge was bigger than expected and meant that we could fit in large bottles of drinks ( water, fruit juices, etc ). Bathroom was clean and a good size. Bed was comfortable with extra pillows to use.
Car parking was below the hotel which was great. A short walk to the shops, restaurants and right next to the train/ bus station so was easy to get around to different places.
The only thing that was a problem was that we were staying in rooms on the 11th floor. To get to 11th floor you have to take lift C to get to floor 10, then walk all along the corridor to then take another lift ( think it was A ) to then get to floor 11.
To get to the lower car park from floor 11 (floors -1 & -2 ) you could just go straight down but you couldn't go from the car park straight to floor 11. So it all got a little confusing at times and we ended up on wrong floors more than on the right ones.
