The location is great, its clean and the staff is friendly.
There was no tooth brush and vanity kit in the rooms, no telephone in room which means no service, so if you needed anything you had to go to the reception. I thought it was strange and it didn’t make sense value for money.

The room was perhaps one of the smallest we've stayed in but undoubtedly the best.. a clever mix of design, quality materials and stunning natural light. Cannot wait to stay again. The bed (and our sleep) was really comfortable. Very happy, thank you.

Amazing accomodation, really comfortable, perfect for our 5 night stay (family of 3 plus dog). Everything we needed and easy to get into and around Amsterdam. Restaurant and cafe also great.

A perfect location for exploring Amsterdam and getting to other places like Haarlem.
The bed was perfection and the room really kept out any noise from outside. I had absolutely wonderful sleep for my whole stay. The rooftop sauna and hot tubs were a fantastic bonus. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. It was a truly magical stay!
The hotel was perfect and because the metro was literally outside the hotel I felt super safe travelling alone in the dark. There were a few ‘characters’ hanging around on the streets outside but as long as you are sensible I don’t think they would be any trouble.

This was our second stay with you and we love it just as much as the first time, such a great hotel:)
People not sharing the hot tubs even after waiting 30 minutes with our two children, so this was really frustrating for them, and felt a bit unfair that people saw us waiting but wouldn’t offer to share.

The common space on the ground floor is nice, and so is the bar area.

The Volkshotel is not just a hotel, but is a cafe/restaurant/event/work space. I traveled with my two kids and we found the hotel to be a fun, unique environment. The breakfast buffet is a great value and was very good with super friendly staff. We ate a big breakfast every morning and head out on our day. The hotel is also right next to a metro stop, 4 stops to Centraal station, which was very useful for us.
We stayed in a room that had a mezzanine, so there was one bed upstairs on the floor with a shower and then a sofa on the main floor with sheets and blanket to be used as a bed. Two things I'll point out for anyone traveling with smaller kids: the mezzanine bed has a net on one side and open space between bars on the other side which could be easy to fall through to the floor below. We used pieces of the sofa downstairs to create a barrier on the open side so as to minimize any chances of rolling off. And second thing is that while the shower was great (great water pressure etc) the door is just glass, so completely see-through and not a lot of space to get privacy. We worked around this by making sure to be downstairs and in no line-of-sight of the shower =) (I have a boy and a girl who were mortified by this). The toilet though is downstairs with a regular door. I think the main thing to note for families with kids booking here is to call and ask how the room is set up so there are no safety concerns. Otherwise, I think the Volkshotel is a wonderful place to stay!
