Incredible location and what an experience to stay in a crane! The view from the bedroom is extraordinary. Very well located for transport.
The air conditioning unit in the top bedroom wasn't working at the time and it would be great to have some more opening windows, but that may not be allowed by regulation.

Incredibile place for a unique experience! The setting itself is fantastic: sleeping from the top of a crane is unforgettable. Everything is perfect and very comfortable. Weve loved the bath tube at the 2nd floor and the top bedroom, flying in the sky.
Great to have two bikes available to hang out around Amsterdam.

This is glamping at its best. Java Island is quiet, but well connected, you can cycle within 15min walk within 50min to Amsterdam center. There are two bedrooms- the top one is accessed via the outside and has a great view (and its own WC so you dont need to brave the stairs at night). Well kitted out and easy to heat.
Nothing not to like, but we felt a toaster would make a nice addition to the kitchen.

This was really a nice experience to live in a crane. The appartment is on 3 floors: 1st floor: entrance and kitchen, 2nd floor: bathroom and bedroom #1 for 2 people, 3rd floor: "roof" terrace and bedroom #2 for 2 people. The 3rd floor can only reached by a steep ladder, but it is worth the climbing. The bedroom #2 has a fantastic view over the harbour and some canals and is a very romantic place. The appartments kitchen is fully equipped and even has a dishwasher. The beds are really comfy. The steep steps / ladder is no problem for a normal / fit person. There are always handles and you can always hold yourself. The large panorama window in the bedroom #2 scared me a bit first - but I can tell: after 1 night you will deal with the height and enjoy the panoramic view. I adjusted faster than I thought because everything seemed very stable and safe.
There is only one thing: 3 coffee capsules for 2 people / 4 nights... but that was no problem, ~ 150m away is a bakery and they make really good coffee, I missed nothing.

I dont usually rate hotels but living in a luxury crane is definitely a onetime experience. The facilities are great, location is wonderful, the scenery is fantastic... You wont regret owning the entire 3-floor crane all by yourself for a little holiday. You could eat and sleep while enjoying a terrific sea-view (up in the air) of east amsterdam.

The location and design of the crane apartment was absolutely amazing. There are TVs in the living room and both bedrooms (yes there are TWO bedrooms which I didn't realize from the listing). The kitchen was appointed with everything needed to cook meals in the crane. The beds were comfortable. The views of the water were amazing...especially the sunsets. There's a tram stop only a short walk away. The neighborhood has a ton of things to do. There are two grocery stores within walking distance. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again when visiting Amsterdam.
It was crazy hot two days of my stay and there's a LOT of glass in the apartment. Even with the blinds closed, the crane got kind of hot and the air conditioning couldn't keep up. None of the windows open, so it was a bit uncomfortable for about a day and a half. But, it cooled down the other two days and the AC did great. So, just keep that in mind if you travel during the summer. If I had a brought a little fan, it would've been fine. It would be AWESOME if Yays could reserve a parking spot next to the crane for the guests. Parking was easily available on the street, but I had to keep feeding a meter which added up. The listing mentions the stairs in the unit are steep, but they are STEEP. Like, ladder steep. But, in some aspects harder to go down than a ladder. Going up was no big deal. It was the going down that was tough. It wasn't an issue for me, but I can imagine this would be a massive issue for some people. Just keep that in mind when booking. And, if you're in the least bit inebriated, you're falling down the stairs....guaranteed. The hardest part of the whole stay was getting my SMALL suitcase down the stairs when I left. :) Again, not really an issue, but wanted to note for other people so expectations are there. Just a TINY suggestion for Yays. You should put a shelf or basket in the shower for toiletries. For such an amazingly well designed and appointed unit, this was like the only thing missing. It's annoying having to put your shampoo and soap on the floor of the shower.
