The location and the idea of decorating the room with a dedicated theme, which I find original. We were in the room gym and had a punching bag and the picture of Cassius Clay.
The room was small and in the basement, which is not exactly what you hope for that price. The alley of the hotel is small and dirty. Someone spilled something at the entrance and stayed there 2 days.

Kris was an awesome host.
Rooms were modern, albeit small.
Personalized note in the room was appreciated (with Heineken!).
Mattress and pillows were very good.
Breakfast at main building was great.

Super convenient- not more than a 10-20 min walk to all the areas one would want to visit. Right off of main pedestrian/shopping area with great stores. Tram right outside. Beds were comfy. Toilet separate from shower/sink. Staff was lovely.
Room for 3 was very cramped. Did not like decor theme of our room which was Home Theater. It was dark & dreary. No rugs so in winter room felt very cold & unwelcoming. Need to make the room cozier & brighten up. No closet nor dresser. Our luggage took up every ounce of floor space so it was stressful. Check-in & breakfast is in another building. Breakfast was nothing fabulous. Decent. No view.

Such a wonderful stay at The Highland House Hotel in Amsterdam! Each room has its own unique theme. Stayed in the Music Room, super comfortable and spotlessly clean. A special thank you to Kris and Valentina, who went above and beyond before and during our visit. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything we needed.

Great location, near shops & restaurants. Staff is very warm & helpful. Room was very clean with a “game” theme.
There are 2 steep steps to enter the property. It was a challenge to get luggage in & out.

The location was great and easy to access the train station!
The accommodations were not up to standards for cleanliness. Additionally the sign in the room said that there were complimentary drinks in the fridge, however, the only thing in the fridge was a half eaten sandwich from the previous guest.

Room was well designed and clean, quiet despite being in a central location.
I arrived at 6pm and could not enter the hotel, the reception was closed and no one answered the door or phone when I called. I waited over 30 minutes trying to get in until finally I was told I needed to go to a different hotel to check in to this hotel. In the meantime, the hotel is in front of a nonstop coffee house with a strong smell and smoke of weed in your face, which I needed to deal with until I got in and every time we came and went. After looking closer, there are many more hotels with lower prices and a proper lobby, reception and services that this hotel was lacking, despite its high cost.

Room was adorable and well-equipped with everything we needed- except an iron and ironing board - BUT, I went to the front desk to request them and they delivered one immediately.
