The hotel is beautifully designed in a truly great location. Staff and service levels are faultless and some of the most welcoming staff I have ever encountered. The main areas are beautifully decorated
The main entrance was having extensive work which meant access was via the back which means you lacked the initial impact for a hotel of this calibre. We were upgraded which was very kind, but I was surprised as to how small the rooms still were. The layout of the room meant that the toilet was about 2 foot from one side of the bed, which really isnt practical With a bit more thought the bathroom could have been located on the other side of the room for comfort and privacy. Anattara is known for their spa facilities, worldwide and I was very disappointed to discover that after paying £350 for the night there was no pool and you could only visit the saunas if you booked an hour slot and then paid £20-25 per room . I have stayed in 5* hotels worldwide and I have never encountered something like this.... It is very off putting and as a result we didnt visit the spa at all. The whole point in a city break is to be out and about enjoying the sites - no one wants to leave an impromptu late lunch / a museum / shops / bars to go back to the hotel for their hour time slot for a sauna. An hour is not really an appropriate time frame if you want the true sauna experience. to try all 3 types available. One final note - the TVs in our rooms did not work at all. By the time we discovered this it was after 11 pm at night and there was no way I wanted to wait for maintenance to assist. But if you market yourself as a luxury hotel then I would expect all facilities in a room to be checked to make sure they are working before check in. We had previously been to another city in Holland and stayed in a different hotel chain, and whilst the customer service wasnt as impeccable, the basics were all there (everything worked etc) at less than half the cost. Overall a good hotel with fantastic service but Im not sure its worth the price tag
