The property is in a great location next to the flower market, so there's lots of activity during the day, but it's still pretty quiet at night. There are restaurants, bars, shops and cafes all very walkable from here and nearby tram stops if you want to go farther. I found the vibe of the hotel to be modern without trying too hard to be hip. The lobby is a comfortable place to congregate if you're with a group and directly attached is Ter Marsch, which has pretty good food and drinks if you need to eat before heading out into town. My room was clean and had every amenity I needed. The bed and pillows were pretty comfortable and even though I was near the elevator bank and my window faced out onto Reguliersdwarsstraat, I was mostly undisturbed by noise. I paid for the breakfast at the hotel buffet. It was quite good and had plenty of options for all dietary needs.
The room was very "efficient" with its layout. In other words, the bathroom is so small that the door touches the toilet when it's open. You do feel like you're having to maneuver around a little bit to use the facilities and get in and out of the shower. The room was also a little dark for my preference. I'm all for creating a vibe, but I also like to be able to see clearly to make sure that I'm not leaving any of my stuff behind when I check out. There was one night when there was some kind of partying out on Geelvinckssteeg till the middle of the night and it was a little tough to drown out the noise. For anyone who's planning on using the gym, be advise that the free weights only go up to 18kg.
