Not far away to any where. They are so kind. I could leave my bagpack before check in. And also my room is enough for one person.

Wonderful
Beautiful! Big room and great facilities, very comfortable bed and staff were so nice! Visited for my partner’s birthday and they’d left a tray of treats and a note to say happy birthday and also gave us an upgrade free of charge! Loved it.
A couple of small things were broken in the bathroom (shower head wouldn’t stay up) and you couldn’t access the stairs from reception so had to use the elevator which is bad for claustrophobics.

The room was beautiful and quiet.
Price is on the high end but not unusual for Amsterdam.

Very Good
The location is very convenient, walkable distance to Rijkmuseum & Van Gogh museum. There is a direct bus 397 nearby from/to airport. No need to change with luggage

Located in a 5-min walk to major museums, the hotel serves the best breakfast in Amsterdam, staff is caring and helpful, marrasses firm but comfortable. Next to a tram stop and the canal cruise station. Multiple very good restaurants in a waking distance. Great stay, highly recommended.

Wonderful
I stayed at NH Hotel Amsterdam Leidseplein from June 15 to July 1.
The hotel exceeded my expectations on most counts.
Breakfast was sumptuous with a variety for a vegetarian like me that I haven’t seen in many hotels. I travel frequently in Europe.
Rooms were minimally but tastefully done up with every imaginable need addressed.
Service at reception was quick and easy.
Staff went out of their way to meet my needs. I wasn’t well, needed some chilled milk but didn’t have the energy to go out and buy. I asked the bar staff for some. They gave me some to drink, packed some for me to keep in my room fridge and didn’t charge for it. It’s not about the money. It’s attending to a guest’s needs. I was struggling with my huge suitcase. Reception staff Denise very kindly helped me with it all the way to my room. Than you once again, Denise. I had forgotten to carry the adapter for the phone charger. Reception staff Maybelyn sourced one for me late in the evening when I couldn’t have gone looking it. I can’t thank you enough, Maybelyn. I forget names of the gentlemen staff but they were all extremely helpful and polite too.
Location is the best ever. Step out and you have trams and buses and Amsterdam’s most beautiful park, department stores…you name it.
An emergency situation occurred when there was a massive power outage in parts of the city one evening for a couple of hours. It was the first time the hotel was facing one such but kudos to the General Manager and the reception staff who handled it with great crisis skills management and infinite patience. I must particularly thank reception staff Gaia who kept reassuring me when I was worried about this happening again and I’d be stuck in a lift or in my 5th floor room. Thank you, Gaia. You were indeed very sweet.
There was a mixup from my side about a subsequent reservation. Again, Maybelyn helped me with a solution that was quick and easy and even saved me €90 when I booked through the hotel site.
Few slightly unpleasant experiences:
1. I’m a senior with slight mobility issues and a solo traveller. On June 15, the cab driver from the airport dropped me at the hotel at around 9:30 PM, carried my suitcase to the entrance and then left. It was late evening. I was on the verge of collapsing after a long flight from India. There was a ramp but I couldn’t even navigate that. I requested the reception staff to help. He curtly refused saying they had no bell boy services and he couldn’t leave his post to help. The tone was not friendly and he could easily have called someone else to help, I felt. He continued checking in a group that had arrived after me. Another guest who was passing by, helped me.
2. Now this one is more of a puzzle for me. The reception staff Theodora didn’t like me for some reason. She never smiled nor even reciprocated my smile, didn’t offer workable solutions when I was checking out and had some queries and when I met her just outside the hotel and remarked that I hadn’t recognised her minus uniform, she just gave me a disdainful look. Maybe it’s my Indian skin that she doesn’t like. Maybe she comes from a culture where people are serious. I can only speculate. Incidentally I noticed her being very friendly, smiling, even laughing with other guests. Since I can’t change the colour of my skin and I expect great treatment in exchange for my hard earned money that I pay hotels with, it’s up to Theodora to have uniformly friendly attitude towards all guests or, management transfers her to back office or lose me as a return guest.

Wonderful
We absolutely loved the location! 10/10 - close to everything we wanted to see. Within walking distance to many amazing bars and restaurants. It was close enough to Central but far away enough from the chaos and noise of the tourism there. We found ourselves enjoying Jordaan and De Pip the most.
The staff were helpful and friendly, getting us ice upon request and assisting us in accessing the gym. We did have issues with housekeeping who were impatient and rude, knocking several times when we requested they come at a later hour. We were rushed out the room and ended up leaving important things behind for the day as a result.
Housekeeping/room service were impolite.
The gym hours were odd- like 9am-12pm. The hotel did take me to their “new gym” which was open 24/7 but so far has minimal equipment but a good start! Techogym stuff which is so nice.

We had a balcony with nice views. Staff was friendly, room was clean.
It was difficult to get into the bed as there was only space on one side, the other side was against the wall.
