The loft itself was quite spacious, and the air conditioning was working well once we got it running. On the service side, our bags were carried to and from the room, which we appreciated since there is no elevator to the loft and you have to climb three floors of stairs.
Room Readiness & Condition: We arrived at 16:00 well past the official check-in time and the loft was still not ready. When we were finally let in, it felt like an oven; they hadn't bothered to turn on the AC to cool it down before our arrival. The overall condition of the apartment and the kitchen was very poor. The Nespresso machine was missing basic parts , the stove knobs were heavily worn, and the kitchen cupboards/fixtures were visibly coming apart or cheaply propped up. In the bathroom, the shower head was heavily blocked with limescale, causing water to squirt aggressively in all directions instead of a normal flow. Additionally, the upper room floorboards creaked so loudly it was almost comical. The layout offers zero privacy. The lower-room bathroom and toilet have no door at all. The upper bathroom only features a bar-style swinging door, which provides no real isolation.

We stayed at the Hotel Catalonia Vondel Amsterdam before our river cruise, and it was a fantastic choice. The hotel offers A++ service, a superb breakfast selection and it's in a fantastic location — right in the heart of one of Amsterdam's most beautiful historic neighborhoods, with everything within easy walking distance. Check-out is at 12pm and even after that, the staff happily look after your luggage while you continue exploring the city. We booked three rooms and found the quality to be well above what you'd expect for the price — genuinely 5-star accommodation at a very reasonable rate. Tip: ask for room 201, which has a lovely outlook. Highly, highly recommended — this hotel is a wonderful base for anyone visiting Amsterdam.
