I took 3 rooms for my family , all of the were very poor.
Cost performance It was the worst rooms I ever had .

Room needed some minor maintenance work. Sink didn't drain properly; outlet cover came off.

We stayed in the loft. Very spacious and welcoming.
Lack of access to the loft by elevator is indeed a problem (that we were made aware of). The staff went out of their wait to support us for luggages etc…, but it is indeed a challenge for older people.

The rooms are old and run down. The carpets in the hall are dirty and need to be replaced. Mold in the showers. Generally not 4 stars.

The hotel is nice and comfort. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The hotel location is good, nearby the museum square and lots of bus station closeby.
The room we got is a 2B2B apartment (loft). It looks like the photos. However, the upper level room is a little short and there are not much space for sitting or luggages. If someone is tall, the person may feel lots pressure from the ceilling. Plus, the stair is steep, which I think it may be tipical for Amsterdam, making it's less convenient going up and down. It may be a little inconvenience staying in the apartment but it's a good experience.

Very large room. Bathroom had a large tub. AC was robust. It was a split level, but we enjoyed that as it made it unique.
No complaints, but those with mobility issues may want a different room.

The apartment is comfortably spacious for 4 adults, with a lot of spaces to put luggage. The kitchen is nice and the apartment comes with dining table as well where the group can hang out. We also love the location of the hotel which are so central, easy to get to from bus stops with strategic buses and also canal boats. The hotel is surrounded by lush trees, making the property serene & charming.
We also have to give massive props to the two gentlemen who received us upon check-in. They were friendly and tried to bond with us. One of them also brought all suitcases (incl 2 large ones) up the staircases.
The shower area is without closed door located in the bedroom. As such, nobody can be in the bedroom and we always have to close the bedroom door, so the person showering can shower in privacy. For such large apartment, the toilet is also too squeezy. The room is located on the 3rd floor with no elevator access and quite steep staircases, so need to be aware of this if the group has elderlies in it.
Our biggest issue was the fact that the air-conditioning was not working properly throughout our stay there - we selected this place partially due to air-conditioning availability. The staff tried to fix, but the temperature could not go below 24 deg Celcius on the best day. We had to open the windows to ensure cool air in instead. Luckily it was not peak summer.

Just steps away from downtown and the museums. The breakfast is pretty good if you can get it rolled into the room rate. The staff seem enthusiastic if very young and somewhat inexperienced. Rooms quiet mostly.
The carpet in this hotel stinks and makes it feel like a cheap casino. Rooms are clean but the bathroom fixtures are in disrepair and I nearly brained myself slipping on the tub. We ordered drinks in the downstairs bar and after a half hour were told that they couldn't tap a keg correctly - I was served a whiskey sour with no whiskey. I have stayed in my fair share of European hotels and I don't expect a Marriott but when you are paying the kind of prices this property charges I think I might have expected a bit more.

Very helpful and efficient staff, excellent buffet breakfast (though pricey). We had an issue after we checked out with the taxi driver to the airport overcharging us, which the hotel promptly dealt with, and we quickly received a refund. We found most hotel rooms during our travels in northern Europe too warm, and this was the only one that had air conditioning, so that was also a plus. The location (access to public transit, restaurants, etc.) is also great.
Our room on the 4th floor was a bit cramped, and we had to be careful to avoid bumping our heads in some areas that had a low sloping ceiling.

My husband and I stayed at Catalonia Vondel for a couple of nights before our cruise left from Amsterdam. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfast was excellent and we appreciated the location, close to Vondel Park. We highly recommend this hotel.
