⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Location and Excellent Service We had a very pleasant stay at Catalonia Vondel Amsterdam. When we first checked in, we were a little disappointed because our room was located in the basement. The room had limited ventilation, and we could hear people outside on the street talking and smoking, which made the first night less comfortable than we expected. However, the next day we spoke with the front desk, and Julio Cesar was incredibly helpful and understanding. He kindly arranged for us to move to a room on the fourth floor with large windows and a lovely street view. This made such a big difference and really improved our stay. We truly appreciated his professionalism, kindness, and willingness to help. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is in a beautiful and convenient area of Amsterdam, close to many attractions, restaurants, cafés, and public transportation. We especially enjoyed being able to walk around the neighborhood and easily explore the city. The location was perfect for our Amsterdam sightseeing and photography. Overall, we are very happy with our stay. A special thank you to Julio Cesar for making sure we were comfortable and helping turn our experience into a memorable one. His excellent customer service really stood out to us. We would definitely consider staying at Catalonia Vondel Amsterdam again on our next visit to Amsterdam!
⭐️⭐️ Disappointing First Night I booked this hotel almost a year in advance, so I was very surprised to be given a basement room on our first night. This was my first experience staying in a hotel basement. The room had poor ventilation, and we could hear people outside talking and smoking. Thankfully, Julio Cesar at the front desk was very helpful and moved us to a fourth-floor room with large windows the next day. I truly appreciated his excellent service. However, I was still disappointed that our initial room was a basement room despite booking so far in advance.

Location is ok. At least close to museums
It may be a 3 star hotel at best (only because of the location). Not designed for either comfort or fire hazard evacuation. Very strong smell in Hallway. Almost fell when walking on stairs. The hotel has the smallest elevator I have ever seen.

Disappointing
Excellent staff. They were all kind, professional, helpful and kind - from housekeeping(very effecient and everything was extremely clean), to front desk and morning dining. Excellent deep tub great for soaking.
SHABBY! So sad - the holding company needs to invest in upgrading the property. This place needs new carpets, had plenty of old stains and worn out. The carpet overall is very out of date. The wallpaper in the dining room looks like its out of 1970 and so is the decor. Our bathroom needed painting too. Overall no real care and investment in details on the interior overall. Until this lovely hotel has a major upgrade we will not stay again. We had some heavy luggage - there are plenty of steps here and there - warning - if you think you are going to roll your luggage to an elevator - be prepared.

Great location just down the road from the park and city center, tram stops and close to museums. The Vondel apartment was perfect for traveling with kids, beautiful historic building, and we loved having use of our own laundry in the apartment.

The location was excellent and breakfast options were good but re used some uneaten items so they were looking tired by the last day. The room was comfortable.
Staff attentiveness was just ok. For the amount you pay the expectation was a not met. Front desk smoking out on the back balcony was not a good look.

Good location, nice hot water pressure, strong AC, and clean overall. It was a comfortable stay.
I would say this hotel is just okay, not exceptional (esp for the price — it was particularly high during my visit in early August). Rooms are a bit difficult to navigate due to the unique layout of the building and narrow hallways, and it was hard to initially find the elevator. Upon checkin the staff did not offer to help with luggage, so just keep that in mind if you’re bringing heavy suitcases. Also no room slippers provided (not a big deal, but an amenity I look for in any hotel).

The location is great. Not too busy but still close to everything.
This hotel definitely does not deserve a 4-star rating: ​1. The room was extremely small, with barely enough space to fit our luggage. 2. The elevator is far too small. ​3. The property is not accessible at all. There are numerous stairs at the main entrance to the lobby and throughout the corridors leading to the rooms.

The room size and the bathroom size. The bathroom was so small that the door of the shower was a couple of inches from the sink when open. The furniture was outdated, not was I was expecting for a hotel charging 300 euros per night

Spacious room, great air conditioning, and a shower that held the water in the actual shower area (many of our hotels during this trip didn't do this and we were mopping up water after each shower).
Unfortunately, we had to kill a roach in our bathroom. And no soap or body wash in the shower, only shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. Although this wasn't the first hotel to seemingly put body lotion in lieu of body wash in the shower during this trip.

Location was perfect for the museums, the Concertgebouw, walking the canals. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was comfortable and spacious.

The location is excellent and very convenient for exploring Amsterdam. It is one of the best things about the hotel.
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my one-week stay. I stayed in room 204, directly underneath room 304, and throughout the entire week I heard constant footsteps and dragging noises from the room above, especially at night and early in the morning. My room was also very close to the breakfast/restaurant area, so I could clearly hear plates, forks, spoons and conversations from the restaurant early in the morning. At night, I also heard the elevator and various other noises from the hotel, which repeatedly interrupted my sleep. As a result, I had to wake up very early and my sleep was disturbed almost every day. I think rooms like this should be assigned to guests staying for only one or two nights rather than guests staying for a full week. Another major issue was that the room did not have a proper wardrobe. Since I was staying for a week, it was very difficult to organize and store my clothes and belongings. For a longer stay, I expected the room to have adequate storage space.

Wonderful
The staff were super helpful and accommodating for me and my dog. We were transiting for a couple days through Amsterdam on our international journey. They were friendly towards the dog, helped me find reliable airport transport, and stored my dog's large crate throughout our stay. The location was excellent. It was easy to reach the big park, and we could also hit the canal district easily too. The room we stayed in was a good size for Europe and had a great bathtub and shower.
