Wonderful
Hotel Fita is a beautiful building and could NOT be in a better location. The street is idyllic and quiet, yet it is an extremely short walk to two different tram lines and four amazing museums, Museum Plein and a number of restaurants and cafes. There is a grocery store 5 minutes away, and if you are in to high end fashion, every store you could imagine is one street away. It took us very little time to discover just how lucky we got with this location. Amsterdam is not huge, and most things are easily walkable or able to reach by tram from here. De Pijp is maybe a 12 minute walk, the canal district is 20 minutes by tram. For me, the proximity to the museums and Museum Plein, and to the bars, restaurants and canals of Leidesplein was ideal. Our room was on the top floor, spacious with tons of natural light, a large bathroom and air conditioner!- a very pleasant surprise as we were there during a heat wave. We had breakfast at the hotel once, and it was nice, and there are plenty of breakfast options within a short walk or tram ride as well (Blushing is a lovely option and literally around the corner). I would not hesitate to stay here when I return to Amsterdam.

Excellent location for visiting the museums.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The room is very old and has a neglected feel to it. There is no air conditioning which made it hard to sleep. Opening windows allowed the street noise in which was quite disruptive at times.

It was close to all the museums. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious - both hot and cold items. There’s not staff at the front desk but when we rang the bell someone was there within a minute or two.
The elevator was temperamental but the hotel is working on replacing it.

Beautiful rooms and wonderful staff. Hotel Fita is in an excellent location on a quiet side street only one block away from the Van Gogh museum. Very central for tourists close to the museums and bus routes. Lovely restaurants just one block away. We loved our stay.
The stairs are very steep but there is a tiny lift to take luggage upstairs although it is a one person at a time lift.

The room was really cozy, with a really nice view to a beautiful street. The staff did the best to make us comfortable. The location was a few steps from the Museum square and to a tram and bus stop. Not so easy to reach downtown walking, but really easy to ger by public transportation.
Maybe some points of decoration, but just a personal view.

The property is beautifully maintained and everything is spotless. The breakfast room is light and airy. Location is perfect - in a quiet area but extremely close to the museums and tram stops. Also close to the lovely Vondelpark. The bathroom was large and extremely well equipped with a really excellent shower. Lots of choice of hot and cold food at breakfast, which is all buffet-style. Particularly liked the freshly-squeezed juices, delicious yoghurts and fresh fruit, and excellent coffee. Really helpful staff.
The steps to rooms are steep - but this is a traditional house in Amsterdam, and steep steps are the old style of construction. There is a small lift that guests can use as an alternative but you have to be ok with very confined spaces to use it. We knew about the steps in advance, but guests do need to read the owners’ accurate description carefully to ensure they are comfortable with the steepness. Our twin room had a lovely aspect. There were 3 things that would have improved our stay: (1) a small refrigerator in the room would have been so useful (the outside temperature was high during our visit) to cool down drinks; (2) the mattress covers have pilling on them (small bobbles of fabric thread) that feel a bit like a soft hedgehog to sleep on!, even through a sheet, and (3) The air-con unit desperately needs a service/upgrade as it doesn’t cool the room down sufficiently and doesn’t match either the temperature or the speed of the fan that is on the remote control. This wouldn’t be a problem in cooler temperatures, but it was particularly warm during our stay so this was more significant for us. But these are relatively small issues given the positives of the hotel, and we didn’t mention them to the staff at the time so I wouldn’t expect them to have taken any action (mainly because our stay was brief and these are not matters that would be changed quickly, or at all, anyway).

Upgraded bedroom , very neat and tidy! Room bigger than anticipated.
We thought the aircon was not 17 degrees as indicated. It would have been good to have a flatsheet on the bed. The duvet was very hot for this time of year.
