Hotel Die Port van Cleve is ideally located in the city center of Amsterdam, right behind the Nieuwe Kerk and Dam Square, next to Magna Plaza Shopping Mall. Many extraordinary sites that the city has to offer are within walking distance, like Anne Frank's House, the Nine Streets and the beautiful canal belt. From its humble beginnings as a brewery in 1864 to becoming one of Amsterdam's most beloved hotels, Die Port van Cleve has been a witness to history, culture, and innovation. The hotel consists of six monumental buildings that are connected to each other, therefore all 122 hotel rooms vary in size and layout. We had a 2 night stay in Amsterdam on our way home from vacation in Crete. This hotel was in a perfect location to allow us to explore the city by foot. Easily accessible by public transportation (train from the airport to Amsterdam Centraal Station then a tram ride to Dam Square). The tram dropped us less than a block from the hotel. You pay for the location but we would stay here again when we come back to Amsterdam.
The room was very small. The exterior of the building was under renovation so completely covered in scaffolding.

Lobby has nice seating areas 24/7. Air con worked well mid Sept. very easy to get extra coffees for the room from the maid’s cart. Umbrellas available to borrow if you ask the FD. The remodel/construction did not disturb us.
since check in is at 3pm we had to pay 25€ to get in it early even though it WAS ready when we arrived at 12:30

The staff were very kind and friendly and the hotel was lovely, clean and comfortable. We were very close to everything we wanted to see so we’re very pleased with the location.
The twin mattress wanted to slide off the bed, but this wasn’t a huge problem.

Very centric and well located to explore further around. Rooms are nice, clean and quite. Personnel was very professional and helpful. Side restaurant and pub are a highly recommended plus.
For some reason, beds had two matresses, one on top of another, plus a topper. Overall too high to get into the bed and too unstable, causing a dangerous fall during the first night. Got assorted next day.

The location is fabulous with the tram almost directly in front of the hotel. Some of the concierge and check in folks are very nice - especially Arcan! Loved the Bouillon restaurant - excellent food at decent prices.
Our bathroom smelling horrible that we couldn’t even go in to it. We got assistance to have it sprayed and it was better. The lighting in the room is quite poor.
