Hotel Die Port van Cleve is ideally located in the city center of Amsterdam, right behind the Nieuwe Kerk and Dam Square, next to Magna Plaza Shopping Mall. Many extraordinary sites that the city has to offer are within walking distance, like Anne Frank's House, the Nine Streets and the beautiful canal belt. From its humble beginnings as a brewery in 1864 to becoming one of Amsterdam's most beloved hotels, Die Port van Cleve has been a witness to history, culture, and innovation. The hotel consists of six monumental buildings that are connected to each other, therefore all 122 hotel rooms vary in size and layout. Check in and staff were wonderful! They let us get to our room very early. They helped us with activities and sightseeing.
Room was dark. It needs more lighting. Otherwise, it was a nice room in an old building.

The location is great. It was clean and felt newly updated. The old world charm and history was nice.
Room was small. Nowhere to set luggage. Lighting in room was so dim we had to use our phone flashlight to look for items in our suitcases. Also, bathroom was very cramped with the sink in the toilet space. I would have preferred a shower to the big tub if it meant more space for the toilet. Also, bedding (pillows) not as nice as we had hoped.

We had the opportunity to stay at the hotel during its 155th anniversary, and the gift left in our room was a very thoughtful and elegant gesture. The room was very clean, and the overall cleanliness standards throughout the hotel were excellent. The bed, although slightly narrow and quite high, was very comfortable and provided a good night’s sleep. The hotel has a wonderful ambiance, and the staff were attentive, kind, and professional throughout our stay. The location is outstanding: despite being very central, the hotel is quiet and peaceful. The central train station is only a 7–8 minute walk away, and the tram line to the museum district runs right in front of the hotel, with a stop just a one-minute walk away, making transportation extremely convenient. Special thanks to Mr. Ercan — his warm communication and helpful attitude truly made us feel at home and added a personal touch to our stay.
The room was a bit small; however, we were aware of this when booking, so it was not a major issue for us. Since we visited in December, the room felt cold upon arrival as the radiators were turned off. Although the room warmed up quickly once the heating was turned on, it would have been more comfortable if the heating had been switched on prior to guests’ arrival. We did not try the breakfast, so we are unable to comment on that.

The beds were too high, the mattress slid off the bed, this caused me an injury, that I didn't realise until I got home.

The staff were so helpful and friendly. The rooms were so clean you could have eaten your dinner of the floor. The beds forget about it they were so comfy I could have slept for a week. Location definitely prime time. Shower was like being baptised by John himself. Overall would defo recommend this hotel to anyone and will be staying again and again.
