Hotel Die Port van Cleve is ideally located in the city center of Amsterdam, right behind the Nieuwe Kerk and Dam Square, next to Magna Plaza Shopping Mall. Many extraordinary sites that the city has to offer are within walking distance, like Anne Frank's House, the Nine Streets and the beautiful canal belt. From its humble beginnings as a brewery in 1864 to becoming one of Amsterdam's most beloved hotels, Die Port van Cleve has been a witness to history, culture, and innovation. The hotel consists of six monumental buildings that are connected to each other, therefore all 122 hotel rooms vary in size and layout. Location was great. Central area.
We booked 3 rooms and one of the rooms weren’t available for check in until 5:30pm as a previous guest requested a late check out. The staff didn’t check their records to see if anyone was checking in and didn’t take any responsibility or apologised. They offered the other 2 rooms for an early check in (just one hour earlier than check in time) and a temporary room to freshen up, shower or take a nap. They even said the water and coffee is complimentary. Aren’t they just basic amenities that a hotel should be providing? We asked for some compensation and the staff (2 tall dutch men) were still being so rude to us and just said our temporary room and the other 2 rooms being available for early check in was adequate compensation. The fact that we had to change rooms during our stay was ridiculous because we paid for 3 rooms for check in from 3pm. The rooms were also not cleaned well and were dusty. We couldn’t wait to get out of this hotel and we paid a lot of money to stay here. We could not work out why they were being so rude to us and the only conclusion was because they’re racist. Train your staff properly and to treat your guests well no matter where they’re from.

Great location, staff very friendly, hotel bar was great. Didn't eat in the restaurant but it was packed every day and night. Enjoyed learning the history of the hotel and buildings. Suited our needs perfectly.
Room was a bit smaller than the picture seemed to show, but it was fine.

Location. The Bar attached to the hotel. The staff, their service, drinks and bar snacks. Awesome!
I stayed in two different rooms based on my booking. The suite was roomy. Hated the closet sized loo. Kept bumping into the loo roll holder and there wasn't anywhere to hang the hand towel after use. That is terrible! That room overlooked a back street. There was party noise audible into the early hours of morning. As a light sleeper I found that frustrating! Second room access down those 3 shallow, angled steps with a heavy suitcase was just awful! Beautiful room. Spoilt by the noise from the trams for all day and most of night. The window only closes with a special tool that is NOT available in the room....WHY?

Really nice and comfortable hotel. The location is excellent - right in the heart of the city, within walking distance of Amsterdam Centraal and some of the city’s main attractions. If you don’t feel like walking, there’s a tram stop right outside the hotel, making it easy to get around. The staff were exceptional as well - every single person we interacted with was genuinely friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lighting!! Theres just not enough, and what's there is quite dim. Inadequate space for luggage; the wardrobe is a steel rack. The top section of the bed can move off the main mattress; you might find yourself on the floor

Location, staff, TV channels.
A place that does not have a vanity kit, room service or offer complimentary bottled water, or have breakfast included isn't worth ~190 per person per night. As much as the staff are nice. The rooms and amenities are at best 2 star and totally overpriced. Disappointed with the 'Booking' holiday inflation.
