Hotel Die Port van Cleve is ideally located in the city center of Amsterdam, right behind the Nieuwe Kerk and Dam Square, next to Magna Plaza Shopping Mall. From its humble beginnings as a brewery in 1864 to becoming one of Amsterdam's most beloved hotels, Die Port van Cleve has been a witness to history, culture, and innovation. The hotel consists of six monumental buildings that are connected to each other, therefore all 122 hotel rooms vary in size and layout. - The hotel's location was perfect and despite the hustle and bustle of Kings Day, the room was surprisingly quiet. - The reception staff were very considerate, friendly and helpful.
- Breakfast was unfortunately the only disappointment of our stay, as we found it quite overpriced for a standard breakfast. The service felt indifferent, and one staff member in particular was rather unfriendly. Despite there being only a few customers, dirty dishes were left on the tables. When we tried to clear some space by moving a stack of plates to an adjacent empty table, a waitress told us this wasn't allowed and moved the dirty dishes back to our dish crowded table. Surprisingly, she didn't take the dishes with her, even though she left the area empty-handed.

The property was very central. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. They welcomed us with drinks and orange flowered Lei necklaces when we arrived on King’s Day. They helped us with taxis and directions for our various excursions. I can’t say enough about their kindness towards my group of friends. The hotel itself was very nice and had an interesting history.

Brilliant location from which to explore Amsterdam. Interesting historical building. Very friendly staff. Excellent restaurant adjacent to hotel.
Room a little small. Twin beds could not be separated so more like sleeping in one bed together. Also tight to walk around bed. Otherwise lovely room and bathroom.

It was basically just a clean hotel with very little character. In the same price point, we have stayed in other hotels in Amsterdam with better decor, small touches.

The location was very convenient and it was a beautiful building
There was no phone to get a hold of staff. You had a QR code and a chat box but they were not quick to respond. Felt inefficient and a hassle to have to go to the desk to ask for help. The bathroom had an ancient blow dryer that should really be replaced.
