Death trap stairs and ledge into the bathroom from bedroom is a major tripping hazard - would not recommend to those with limited mobility

Staff were very friendly, good location close to canals and metro. Room nice and clean.
October 2025: There was a very loud building site directly outside my window (in the courtyard). Luckily I stayed on a Friday night and they weren't working on Saturday....but they were very loud when I first arrived and it would be good to inform guests in advance.

The hotel is in a great location with easy access to metro and tram and a very short walk to lovely spots to explore. The room was spacious and clean with a great bathroom and even a small balcony. The tiny Dutch staircase was too intimidating for us, so we used the elevator :). Very happy with Hotel Asterisk and would highly recommend the hotel.

Location and staff amazing!
Larger bath towels. An exterior mirror would be preferable because the mirror inside wardrobe difficult to use because door kept on closing. Small fridge preferable.

Excellent location steps from the museumplein and easy walk or tram ride to all the highlights of Amsterdam. The room is typical of rooms in this part of the world - basic but comfortable beds, enough desktop area to put one's things, a chair. Nothing fancy. Very nice bathroom with large walk-in shower. Very quiet and private in a building adjacent to the main building. Although there is a subway stop and major street within a block, this street is very quiet, very typical of Amsterdam with its cobblestone street. The front of the hotel is generously and beautifully adorned with colorful and seasonal plant arrangements.

I was there for 3 nights, didn't spend that much time in the room but I have absolutely no complaints. Or the only thing that could be of value is that it's not fully isolated, I had my room next to the stairs but it didn't bother me that much as it wasn't anyone doing a sprint up the stairs every minute. It was a great stay, close to everything and easy to get to and from the airport and the staff was sweet and helpful. Can definitely recommend!
