Its location
The decor was tired and the AC across the entire hotel was broken. It was the middle of a heatwave and the staff didn’t seem to care.

The Clayton is architecturally stunning, conveniently located, offers the privilege of looking out on the canal, and the breakfast/dining is wonderful. We were able to walk to all of the sites and access transit easily.

The location is amazing, it is such a nice way to start the day sitting on the balcony and watching the life going on downstairs on Leidseplein. The room was nice and cozy.
What we didn't like was that we couldn't close the balcony door with a key ourselfs, we would have needed to call the reception every time to come and close it because they do not leave the keys in the rooms. Also the bed was super small.

the room we initially booked did not match the room we got. we booked a deluxe room and we got a tiny tiny room with the smallest window and we couldn't even access the bed from both sides, we had to go down to the reception to change the room, the were reluctant at first, the we got the room we paid for. the room and the price on the website really did not match the room that was initially assigned to us.

I had a great stay at the Clayton Hotel Amsterdam from 19 to 21 June 2026. The hotel has a great location, with a tram stop just outside the front door and is also just a few minutes walk from the 397 bus which goes to and from Schiphol airport. I was upgraded to a Junior Suite - beautiful bedroom, very clean. Very large and comfortable bed! Buffet breakfast in the restaurant was very good too. Overall, a great stay and I would definitely try to book here when I next visit Amsterdam. Thank you!
