The staff were really helpful and made our stay feel special, including the slice of cake with integral Roman candles included to celebrate my 70th birthday. Excellent location for the museum quarter, public tram transport to and from Amsterdam Central rail station plus taxi rank if needed. Several canal cruise companies also nearby with one directly located outside the front door of the Clayton Hotel.
There was a slight glitch with the TV in our room that couldn't be remedied till the following day.

Check in was easy.
Location was perfect. Close to the museum district, canal rides ,shopping, and just plain exploring all the nooks and crannies. Great restaurant choices surrounding hotel.
Breakfast was awesome. Art deco decor created a fabulous ambience along with food that delighted the palatte..
Taxes. Taxes accounted for about 1/3 of hotel cost. Costly to keep the city infrastructure maintained, but tax the people who live there more rather than the tourists.
Showers were beautiful, but not practical. You need to install grab bars before someone slips and falls and sues for unsafe conditions.

Location was fantastic! Not to far from everything, not too busy.
Rooms design could've been a little better. Bathroom door design choice was interesting, "see through", instead of pocket door for actual privacy. Not enough lighting in the in rooms, always felt one lamp/light too few.
