The location was perfect, is in a very unique historical building, I had a quiet big room with a canal view , very comfortable bed, nice breakfast, very nice and helpful staff. Highly recommended hotel.
The breakfast was only until 10am. It was too early for my kiids.

The hotel was lovely, very clean and comfortable, with an excellent location. We really enjoyed our stay.
The noise from doors closing at night was disturbing. They closed with a very loud bang, which disrupted our sleep. I hope the hotel can address this.

Pillows too overfilled for healthy neck alignment.
Room overlooking fountain, cafe and trams noisy at night.
Disappointing à la carte breakfast experience in cafe so we never returned.

Every thing is lovely except what happened while checking in
Overall, I enjoyed my stay, and everything was lovely apart from an upsetting check-in experience.
I arrived on the second day of my booking because I had missed my flight. I had already sent a message informing the hotel of my delayed arrival.
At check-in, the receptionist requested a €200 deposit and asked me to sign paperwork containing payment details that I believed were incorrect. I declined both and explained that I had already paid everything through Booking.com. After a stressful discussion and delay, we were finally allowed into our rooms.
The following morning, the reception team confirmed that everything had already been paid and that there was no outstanding payment or issue with my booking.
Although the rest of the stay was lovely, this experience caused unnecessary stress. Better communication and checking payment records before asking guests for additional payments would greatly improve the arrival experience.

Beautiful, elegant hotel with a stunning design and a very pleasant atmosphere. The room was spacious and spotless, and the housekeeping was excellent. All the staff were exceptionally polite, friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast ends at 10:00, which is far too early. Extending it to 10:30, or ideally 11:00, would make a big difference. There is also no room service, and breakfast cannot be ordered to the room. For a 4-star hotel in the city centre at this price, this is surprising, as it is a standard service in comparable hotels. The room also had very little natural light.

The Clayton is a quaint, old hotel, but it’s well maintained and has beautiful architecture. It’s also in a great location, near some excellent restaurants, canal cruise stops, Rijks Museum, shopping and train stop.
The area is an active bar scene too so it’s pretty noisy into the early hours.

Good location, very good Beds.
Be careful not to pay in cash. We paid 1000e in cash immediately at check-in and about 95 euros by card. After a day, our keys were invalidated and we can't enter the room. The reception claimed that we had only given 500e. They threatened the police and said that it might take some time, so we agreed to pay 500e more by card because we wanted our vacation to continue. I could never recommend this because of this, even though the hotel itself was great. The first time I've been scammed.
