We booked Clayton hotel on booking.com on the day of our check-in, we reached the property at 11:30pm as we landed Amsterdam via a late evening flight. When we reached the property we were told that they have unfortunately overbooked themselves and they indeed have no room for us. So we were left stranded without a room at 11:45pm in the night despite making a reservation. Most of the hotels in Amsterdam do not allow check in after midnight, so it really put us in a very difficult and unsafe position at a late hour.

Location and the staff is great
The room was dusty and had bed bugs. It took for ever to get a rid of them. On top he carpet was all marked from previous stays.

We enjoyed our stay here. Everything was superb: the staff service, the comfort of our spacious executive corner room with wonderful king size bed, a beautiful bathtub and double sinks, a separate roomy shower, seating area, and beautiful decor. The Clayton Americain hotel (and it's Cafe Americain)is an architectural gem built in the late 1800s in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. The location is perfect. It's in the Leidsenplein theatre district and museums and the beautiful Voldepark are at walking distance. The Canal is also on one the lobby side if the hotel.
It's location is perfect. It's on the Leidseplein (theatre) district at close proximity to the Rijks and Van Gogh museums and the Voldelpark. The Canal is on the lobby side and the Tram is on the Cafe Americain side, which we took to travel to various points of Amsterdam

Outstanding stay at the clayton, not my first visit and won't be my last. Staff 10/10, most comfy bed, service impeccable, room fully equipped irons kettles coffee makers smart tv

We were in a room with a tiny standing balcony & asked to be moved to a room with a bigger balcony. They gave us a fabulous room with two big balconies that had tables & chairs. Brilliant location with lovely sitting out bar/coffee shop at front of hotel. Lovely helpful staff. Stayed 3 nights & we loved it!

Lovely, comfortable room with refrigerator and coffee service. Great location- walking distance from Rijkmuseum, across the street from tram station to Central Railway Station, canal access to tour boat operator. Beautiful breakfast room with excellent breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would book here again in a heartbeat!
