Very Good
Beautiful old architecturally interesting building located 5 minutes from the central train station with access to all of the Netherlands and walking distance to Amsterdam sights. The room was huge with a very large 2 sink and soaker tub along with shower bathroom, twin beds and a desk and roomy sitting area
The elevator was slow as were the cleaning staff - often our room was being cleaned after returning from the day of sightseeing. The cleaning staff was mediocre leaving soiled towels, no wiping of tables and no vacuuming of the carpets. Perhaps they need a few more which might be an interim problem. The room was clean and fresh on arrival.

Wonderful
It is close to the Amsterdam main central train station and a very elegant hotel. It was a 8 minutes walk to the hotel from the train station and it is flat. Easy walk. The room was facing the canal and the beautiful Seafood restaurant. The only thing we don’t like is the entrance is elevated with 4 steps which is hard with a heavy luggage. Fortunately the bell man was there to help. Staff were extremely nice. There are bath ropes and slippers provided. The room was large and comfortable. The concierge was extremely helpful.
The restaurant is extremely slow. We seated at 6:00 pm and 15 minutes later the server came and asked our selection. Our salad and soup were served 10 minutes later but not the wine. We followed up the first time, then it came. By the time we finished the soup and salad, the main dish (fish) were not there. So we followed up the second time at 7:25 pm. They apologized for the delay and gave up a glass on the house. We finished the main course and the complimentary wine then arrived. Service was too slow and the restaurant is not even full. There were only 3 tables filled.

Good
location, ambiance, staff
- didn't know how to regulate tempurature in the room
- every 20 minutes or so, I heard loud noises coming from the pipes or something (like those in very old houses).
- showerdoor was not closing all the way, which caused a very very wet floor

Poor
The location is the only advantage of the hotel
This hotel is very old, dirty, and in need of renovation. Stains on the ceiling, mold, leaking bathroom..you name it. At one point, we didn’t have water for two days. The management handled situations like that very poorly. This hotel is maybe a 3-star hotel at best. Upon our checkout, the management agreed to refund part of the stay, admitting how unpleasant the experience was — and afterward they backed out and stopped replying. Overall, it was very unpleasant experience.

Very Good
A very historical building that brings you back to the early days of the 20th century; gorgeous details and interior. A landmark hotel. Breakfast and huge breakfast room excellent and relaxing. Nice extras like restocked minibar beverages daily. Clean and modern spa facilities, not crowded. Would def stay again.
Especially booked for a minibreak with spa facilities in focus and looked forward to pool, steam, and jacuzzi. Reception provided spa hours but did not know nor communicate that the jacuzzi was out of order. Upon checking out, informed reception (same person!) that jacuzzi not working, which seemed a surprise and unknown. Perhaps a drink coupon would have been a nice gesture. I hope the broken jacuzzi is not a bait and switch as I know they are expensive to maintain.
An alternative entrance to the staircase without railing to get in the front door would be helpful to those with limited mobility.

First off the history and architecture was amazing. The room was fantastic. Spacious , comfortable and moved the soaking tub. So wish we could have taken advantage of the spa area. Breakfast had loads of fine options
Wished we could have checked in a bit earlier

Wellness center included a wet steam and dry sauna.
Entrance consist of multiple stairs (7-10) and is not accessible for wheelchair, and challenging for individuals with multiple pieces of luggage.

We wanted to stay in a character place that reflected the history of Amsterdam and Grand Hotel Amrath ticked all of those boxes. We upgraded to the executive suite and it was enormous with views of two canals, stunning modern bathroom in a historic room. The spa, pool and gym were nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. Close to the railway station. We loved it.
Nothing. Loved it.

Wonderful
From the moment we arrived and saw the beautiful, art nouveau building with stained glass and many other intact architectural and design details, we knew that this property was exceptional. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and full of helpful information about the property and the city; the room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean; and the location was perfect for exploring the city with friends. We will absolutely recommend this property.
Because the property is a converted office building, the lobby is cramped which makes checking in with a group very challenging. Although there are small shops nearby, the propertay lacks the convenience of having a shop onsite. Additionally, there are no toilets on the main floor, near the restaurant and bar.

Very Good
The room was spacious. We had requested twin beds (apparently I snore and toss and turn a lot.. go figure!), but the giant sized double bed caused us no problem.
We did not realise that Amsterdam "opens for breakfast" at 9am.. or at least, we found it difficult to find somewhere open earlier than that where to have breakfast at a reasonable price. The Hotel's breakfast (which we did attend on one day) was plentiful, but at 31Euro (over AUD$50) per person, it was expensive. Amsterdam IS an expensive city when it comes to dining!

Location. Rooms especially beds were terrific. From desk staff were excellent
Poorly trained staff in the dining room. Limited and mediocre menu. Very disappointing for such a lovely hotel.
