Old building that needs repair ( our safe didn’t work, bad smell in bathroom all the time)
Battery in the blinds remote needed changing- that should be caught by housekeeping staff.
Bar soap and disposable wash cloth was not replaced after being used up.

The location was perfect. Very close to the train station and canal cruises, many restaurants within walking distance, quiet at night. The staff was amazing everyone friendly and helpful
The room was a little dated but the view was perfect looking over the water and the train station. We did not mind that the room could use an update.

The hotel is conveniently close to the central station. They have a wonderful breakfast with many choices. The rooms are large, and our view was nice. The concierge services are top-notch. We felt safe walking to and from the city. The bar was fun.
We stayed for a week and found that we had to request extra cleaning for our room. Sometimes the shower was only warm during the day or night. The taxi we requested for our flight back was very expensive, about twice what we paid to get there from the airport. We used Booking for our first taxi.

The staff was exceptional! We had a problem with luggage left at airport and they very graciously and efficiently helped us take care of that. They also helped us get tickets to attractions at the last minute. Concierges Geoffrey and Marcos were especially attentive and solicitous. They made our brief stay exceptionally comfortable.

Very disappointing experience. The hotel clearly does not prioritize guest satisfaction. My sunglasses went missing from the room and no compensation was offered. I also had cookies I purchased from Belgium, which were not cheap, thrown away by housekeeping without my permission.
Even basic requests like ice come with extra charges. Overall, the service was careless and unprofessional, and my concerns were not taken seriously.

The bedroom large size, high ceiling, large windows facing the canal and big confortable bed; the location of the hotel and the nice breakfast especially the very friendly and efficient breakfast staff.
The absence of porter on arrival to help carry the luggage up the stairs to access the lobby, despite the supposed to be a 5 star rating of the hotel; the very poor bedroom service: missing toiletries, towels, toilet paper and minibar supply, due to a poor training of cleaners and lack of supervision in housekeeping; the very poor maintenance of spa facilities, cold shower near sauna out of service, steam room not heating up, 3 out of 4 groups of jets not working in the jacuzzi, occasional lack of water in water dispenser and lack of towels…

The staff were very nice. Located very well. The rooms and bed were ok
Oh so many things that this hotel could do so much better and it has potential. This hotel claims to be 4 star but it’s 2.5-3 stars at best. It’s in a historical building that needs better space planning. Overall it’s very dated. The lobby is non-existent … more like a staircase landing and I don’t understand why management office is occupying space that is better served for hotel guests. Wayfinding dates back to the 70s or 80s. It’s like a maze inside. We got lost on our first day.
There should be a checklist for the rooms… we were missing some basic toiletries. We asked for cleaning once out of our 3 night stay, the housekeeper didn’t even vacuum nor replenish the coffee.
I may have been less disappointed if it was labeled 3 stars and priced accordingly. Although I have stayed in other 3 star hotels that is way better than amrath.

Location was perfect. Easy to locate and get to from Centraal. Breakfast was very good.
TV channels available had no good Kids channels. In fact, most channels were unavailable and I had to flip thru each channel in the Menu to find out if it was available to view. History Channel was not available. None of the Disney channels were available.

Like staying in a museum. Very ornate and vintage style property. Good king beds. Quiet. Excellent location.
First room “deluxe double” is apparently a standard room. Inner courtyard, with bright lights shining upward outside. See pic. Room curtains do not block the light at night. Shower/bath combo was awkward/dangerous to get in and out of. Bathroom had a poor non sealing glass door.
Thankfully the front desk moved us to better room the next day. Partial canal view. Real bathroom as well.
Hotel Very expensive! Rooms and Breakfast pricey!
