The canal-side location was great and the ambiance of the amazing old house and garden was unforgettable. We loved coming 'home' to the welcoming staff and the little extra touches that mean so much when you are travelling.
We chose to stay in a room that was up a steep set of stairs that were a bit scary at times.

A lovely canal side hotel, centrally location about a 10-15 min walk from the central train station. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The stairway was a bit dark, not so bad without luggage but a bit challenging if you have heavy luggage. There is a lift and the staff were very quick to help carry bags.

The staff at Canal House are brilliant. Helping us with out luggage and even booking us a table at a local restaurant on a busy Friday night (thanks Melanie!). The rooms are well appointed, quiet and the bed was very comfortable.
The stairs are narrow so be prepared!

The hotel was in the perfect location for exploring the canal district and easy to reach from the Central Station and other key tourist destinations. The view from the room was fabulous.
The room itself was a little small for a deluxe double and there was an odd 'drain' smell in the bathroom which although did fade during our stay found it's way into the bedroom and never entirely went. We had complimentary breakfast with room but weren't aware that it was only Continental breakfast, it would have been nice to have a full service or a hot buffet.

The staff were awesome! Very friendly and made good cocktails, location was perfect. The room was a little small for our big suitcases but overall, we loved the hotel - lovely garden out the back to relax in :)
The air-conditioning was not as cold as we would have liked but at least the rooms had small fans to accomodate.

The staff were extraordinarily gracious and helpful. They made walking distance dinner reservations for us all of which were great (try Momenti for Italian, Rigeur for their mussels and brasserie blue for the fish stew). The breakfasts were terrific.
We chose a lower price room which (we did not know) did not have a window. This was a significant disappointment, but not overwhelming. All in all it was worth saying there, but I would pay to get to the second or third level

Wonderful
Room, very well appointed, and the breakfasts had a great choice of food. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The courtyard garden was lovely to sit and relax in after a long day sightseeing. The hotel's location was perfect for exploring the city easily on foot.
I think it would be nice to have a couple of hooks to hang up the bath robes when damp.
