Excellent hotel. Greeted with a warm welcome and drink. There's nothing too much trouble, staff very helpful. Warm comfortable rooms, and bed with lovely complimentary wash facilities. The soaps and hair products smelled lovely. Would visit again.

Location.
I stayed at Canal House on 26 December 2025 and had an extremely distressing experience that completely ruined my stay. Before check-in, I left a Louis Vuitton handbag and Chanel sunglasses with reception. When I checked in, the items were in my room. I left the hotel again in the early evening and when I returned later that night, both items were gone. All the contents of the bag had been emptied and left on the desk, including an Apple AirTag. The fact that this happened while my belongings were under the hotel’s care is deeply concerning. A staff member searched the room with us, but nothing was found. What was most upsetting was the lack of urgency and support afterwards. It was very difficult to reach management, and no immediate resolution was offered. A police report has since been filed. I left feeling unsafe, distressed, and extremely disappointed. While the location is nice, this experience overshadowed everything. I would urge future guests to be very cautious with valuables

Great location. The area is lovely and the staff are great. Melanie at front of house is so friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. Little welcome drink on arrival was much appreciated and a nice touch. Breakfast was good although some hot food included in the price would have been nice. Would definitely return!

Cold front lounge didnt make it comfortable to sit in. Needs to be more hygge in the winter . Could have a very good electric fire to simulate warmth and cosiness .
