The personal attention we received went above and beyond what you would see at a chain hotel. The owner and help new we were old and the staircase to the rooms can be challenging and our room was smaller than I expected, but they made every effort to make our stay easier. The luggage was brought up & down. They move us to a bigger room when possible and to a lower floor when possible. Is it the best hotel no, but sometimes when people care about you things can offset the room size or price. If you want a fancy hotel this is not that, but they care about you as people and for me that also counts a great deal.
I didn’t like the stairs or room sizes.

Great location. Could walk to everything. Pleasant room. Very helpful staff re transport options and dining.
Stairs to bedroom level 2 and 3 very steep. Thankfully staff handled our luggage otherwise would’ve been challenging!

The staff were so nice and made it feel more like a home than a hotel. They went out of their way to give us delicious vegan breakfast options every day, including vegan omelets and pancakes. The room has such a beautiful view overlooking the canal and the location is so convenient near a tram stop.
It was the smallest hotel room we’ve ever been in and was a little claustrophobic. There wasn’t much space to open your suitcase without it being in the way. There wasn’t much shower and toilet are in the same space so you need to use a squeegee to dry the floor so that you can use the toilet shortly after. You also need to put everything up on the rack above the toilet so that things don’t get wet. Your knees almost touch the wall when sitting on the toilet and you can’t bend forward at all.

The location was good. Room was clean and tidy. Friendly staff.
The 2 single mattresses when advertised as a double bed. The noise of the extractor fan in bathroom was very loud. The stairs to top floor were very steep, as they are everywhere, just something to consider when booking top floor.

Location was convenient for walking around Amsterdam, and very picturesque, being on a canal. The owner is very friendly and kind. Rooms were clean and the bathroom looked newly renovated. We were able to check in earlier than the official time.
There is no air conditioning, and unfortunately we cracked a few really hot days. Luckily the room had an industrial strength fan that we kept going all night. Our friend stayed on the top floor, which was uncomfortably hot.

Staff is super kind and helpful. Good vibes, familial hotel. Location is very central but super calm - 2 minutes from Leidesplein. Makes it easy to go around the city
The small room is really really small - it’s OK if you’re just staying for 2/3 nights max.

Some of the rooms had a splendid view through large windows over a tranquil tree-lined canal. The location was superb for access to museums, shopping, public transportation. Owner Natalie was very friendly and accommodating.
No AC. No elevator. No washcloths. No body lotion, Q-tips, cotton balls. No USB ports in room. No closet – – just hooks and a few hangers. No breakfast included. ($20 paid breakfast—No meat included—just pancakes and eggs and cereal). No phone intercom to connect to the front desk. Despite friendly owner, that’s a lot of “No’s” for what amounted to 500 bucks for two nights. So, not a good value if room comfort is important, as the room itself was exceedingly small, and the toilet was actually inside the shower.

Location was great. Right beside a canal and so close to the town centre.
It was quaint, clean and fresh. Lovely staff.
We got in early and they took care of our luggage, got us a coffee and made us feel very welcome.
Room was very small, however the canal view made up for that.

A small, pleasant hotel right in the heart of Amsterdam, just around the corner from the Rijksmuseum. The hotel is run with a lot of love. The staff and owners are extremely polite.
I was at an event in the Melkweg and the check-out time of 12 noon was very convenient. For a short stay of one or two nights, I would book this hotel again. Wonderful view of the canal. Restaurants, supermarkets, and several kiosks open 24/7 are all just around the corner. The price was okay for the location.
Here are a few tips for other travelers:
1. The stairs are very steep and there is no elevator.
2. The rooms are really small, so a longer stay is almost impossible because you can't really store your belongings anywhere.
3. The hotel only has single glazing, which means that noise from outside cannot really be kept out.
4. There is no air conditioning—I knew this beforehand and it is also stated in the description.
5. The hotel is located directly in the flight path of the airport. With the windows open, you feel like you are staying at an airport—a plane flies past every 2–3 minutes.
Again, these are just tips for future guests; none of these points bothered me - and I would book the hotel again for a short trip!!!
