The hostess, Nataly, was super nice, with advice about everything we asked.
Breakfast was very good, and vegan, which is very rare…

Pleasant
The location was ideal very close to many things we were interested in seeing.
The room was a bit dark and hard to get ready. Also, the staircase was hard to use and a bit scary being very steep. Thankful the staff helped with bringing our luggage up & down the stairs. No elevator. The breakfast was a bit expensive so we didn't agree to the package offered.

Great location: close to centre but quiet. VERY friendly hosts, the room was clean and comfortable, although a little tight for 2 people. The property has narrow staors and no lift which can be tough if you have a heavy suitcase, but the hosts helped us, so it wasn't an issue. I would certainly go back again!
The room was a little tight for 2 people and the toilet was in the shower, which is an unusual choice, but did not bother me too much, just had to be mindful when showering. It's an old house so these choices are understandable.

We loved this hotel! The hotelier, Nathalie, is such a joy! She has taken this property and made it into a jem. If you get a chance to ask her about her life and story, you won't regret it. Her breakfast (cooked in part by her mom) was huge and delicious. She recognizes that the stairs are difficult to negotiate for some, so she or her staff offer to move the luggage up and down the stairs for her customers. Perfect location, close to canals, bus/tram lines.
Loved everything. Stairs would be hard for those with gait difficulties, so be aware, even though they take your luggage up and down.

Great staff and owner.
The room was the size of a small wall in closet.

Very clean. Staff was great.
I believed we had the smallest room available. 101. It was very small. It was okay for a quick 2 night stay but much to small for any longer.

Location was perfect. Area felt completely safe. Easy walking distance to restaurants, trams, etc. Iconic Amsterdam experience. We ate breakfast there every morning. It was a great way to start the day. Everything was fresh and delicious. Not the typical continental breakfast! Excellent!
We were located on the third floor. The steps were pretty steep! I am 73 years old and my husband is 78. We are both in good health so the steps were not an issue. Absolutely would stay here again.

Disappointing
The location is good, and the canal view is good too. But this is where the good stuff ends.
Extra small room, missing basics like a fridge or plates. Broken kettle. The sink is broken and water in the sink doesn’t drain so you can't really wash your hands. The toilet is located in the shower literally just underneath the shower (no kidding), so after the shower you can't use a toilet without making your feet/socks totally wet because of the standing water on the floor. The reception is not available 24/7, so in the evening you're on your own.

The personal attention we received went above and beyond what you would see at a chain hotel. The owner and help new we were old and the staircase to the rooms can be challenging and our room was smaller than I expected, but they made every effort to make our stay easier. The luggage was brought up & down. They move us to a bigger room when possible and to a lower floor when possible. Is it the best hotel no, but sometimes when people care about you things can offset the room size or price. If you want a fancy hotel this is not that, but they care about you as people and for me that also counts a great deal.
I didn’t like the stairs or room sizes.

The staff were so nice and made it feel more like a home than a hotel. They went out of their way to give us delicious vegan breakfast options every day, including vegan omelets and pancakes. The room has such a beautiful view overlooking the canal and the location is so convenient near a tram stop.
It was the smallest hotel room we’ve ever been in and was a little claustrophobic. There wasn’t much space to open your suitcase without it being in the way. There wasn’t much shower and toilet are in the same space so you need to use a squeegee to dry the floor so that you can use the toilet shortly after. You also need to put everything up on the rack above the toilet so that things don’t get wet. Your knees almost touch the wall when sitting on the toilet and you can’t bend forward at all.

Fair
Some of the rooms had a splendid view through large windows over a tranquil tree-lined canal. The location was superb for access to museums, shopping, public transportation. Owner Natalie was very friendly and accommodating.
No AC. No elevator. No washcloths. No body lotion, Q-tips, cotton balls. No USB ports in room. No closet – – just hooks and a few hangers. No breakfast included. ($20 paid breakfast—No meat included—just pancakes and eggs and cereal). No phone intercom to connect to the front desk. Despite friendly owner, that’s a lot of “No’s” for what amounted to 500 bucks for two nights. So, not a good value if room comfort is important, as the room itself was exceedingly small, and the toilet was actually inside the shower.

Exceptional
Basement room was nice and cool as hot weather during our visit. Large bathroom. Comfortable beds, accommodated us and our teenage daughter. Friendly owner who was very helpful with local attractions, transportation options, will accommodate vegan meal for breakfast. Great location easy to walk the city from. Laundry service 5 mins away which you can pay for service to have washed and folded for you. Would recommend.

Wonderful
The view from the room was excellent. Large window...and terrific shower. The staff were very friendly.
The stairs would be difficult to navigate if you have mobility issues...and an additional chair in the room would be good.
