Set along the edge of the famous Herengracht canal, Banks Mansion is built in the Amsterdam School architectural style and original features. It offers elegant rooms with a unique all-inclusive concept to give guests a “home away from home” feeling. Flat-screen satellite TV come as standard in the air-conditioned rooms at Banks Mansion. The whole experience was superb. The staff were so accommodating/ went above and beyond. Communication was great before arrival and they organised for the room to be decorated for my partners birthday. The room was lovely, a good size, we had the view of the canal and everything was 5*. They were great on arrival, so welcoming and kept making sure they added anything they could to make the weekend special.

We loved the staff who were great! Lady in the kitchen made awesome eggs & everyone was very friendly- a real credit to the hotel.
It was tired - lots of signs of wear (eg chipped furniture) & things broken (like the ice machine). There was also work taking place & whilst the work was only during the day it did impact. Maybe would have been better to close for a week or so.

The property is located in a suburb location & the architecture is excellent
The air con or heater wasn’t working in our room 206 which was located on the second floor, unfortunately for us it was -1 outside & our room was extremely cold. It was hard to sleep in such a cold room!! The mattress was wafer thing which made for uncomfortable nights. On top of that the smoke alarms in the room had masking tape over them which made my partner very uneasy, she’s an anxiety suffering this didn’t help.

Everything about this hotel was outstanding from the staff, the decor, the comfy bed, the toileteries, the self serve bar, cheese trolley, snacks and absolutely fabulous breakfast. It was also located very centrally and the lobby was a fantastic place to sit and relax. I highly recommend and would like to return.
A minor thing but the lift was a little slow.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is a lovely building, well maintained and clean. Breakfast was delicious, with good gluten free options; I really liked the fresh eggs being made on show.

Location..
The hotel does not have a 4-star concept overall; the staff was sullen and unresponsive. The woman who prepared breakfast in the kitchen and said she had worked there for 28 years was very sweet and attentive. In the rooms, there was only one small bottle of water provided; the double bed was very uncomfortable and I think it was old because the middle part was higher while the sides had sunk in, and when I first opened the duvet, there was black hair on the pillow and similarly, there was long black hair on the bathrobe.. So overall, it wasn't a hotel worth the money we paid..

Centrally located and very walkable to many locations. Loved the breakfast. And the open bar in the lobby was wonderful! Highly recommend this hotel.
