Dear Management,
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding my recent stay at Mövenpick Hotel Windhoek from 23 April to 26 April. Unfortunately, the experience fell well below the standard expected of a hotel of your reputation.
From the outset, there were several operational and service shortcomings. Upon arrival, I was initially provided with the incorrect room number, which created unnecessary confusion. Once settled, the room itself was inadequately prepared for two guests, despite the booking clearly being for two people. There was only one towel, one bathrobe, and no toilet paper provided.
Housekeeping was particularly concerning on the second day of our stay. We returned to the room to find the bed completely stripped and no further cleaning or servicing completed. This left the room unusable, and we were forced to wait while the issue was addressed. During this time, we had drinks at the bar, which we were required to pay for despite the inconvenience caused by the incomplete housekeeping service. When service was eventually carried out, it was still incomplete, with the bathroom not cleaned at all.
Room service and food quality were consistently problematic. There were excessive delays in delivery, and orders were frequently incorrect or incomplete. For example, I ordered a sirloin steak but received a fillet, for which I was charged. The meal arrived cold, and the sides and sauce were missing. When I called to have this corrected, the replacements were still inaccurate (wrong sauce), and although a new beer was delivered, I was charged for it despite the original beer being warm and unfit to drink.
There were also ongoing inconsistencies with beverages and basic service delivery. On the first morning, cappuccino was not available via room service. Later that same afternoon, cappuccinos were suddenly available. The following morning, only filter coffee could be provided, and this was delivered without milk. Similarly, there were issues with t

Breakfast buffet was good, but I would like to have had additional breakfast options, i.e. the ability to just order one item. The buffet was a good value if you wanted to eat a big breakfast but not worth it if you wanted to eat less. Food itself for all meals was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful.
My stay was intended to be paid for by the company that made the reservation, but the hotel said that they could not process their payment because the reservation was made through booking.com. I was forced to pay for the entire stay out of pocket and then request reimbursement later. This was extremely irritating and makes no sense. The company believed that they were authorizing payment for my stay when they made the reservation and gave their credit card information. I don't understand whether this is a problem with booking.com or with the hotel's policy (or both), but it is confusing, misleading, and very inconvenient.

Overall, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is located in a quiet area, and has a lovely garden.
The chocolate hour was a nice experience and creates an ambiance for guests interaction.
There are some minor maintenance and repairs to done.
Also, cleaning, reposition of towels and bed making were not as expected.
As Namibia has a different power socket, there was no adapters available for guests to borrow.

- Some excellent staff. All very friendly - specifically Memory on the front desk. She was extremely helpful with any questions I had and helped to arrange a day trip for me.
- the Shuttle driver was also great. He drove me to an activity in the morning and waited there for 2 hours to bring me back. Great service.
- the hotel itself in the reception / dining areas is very modern and well presented.
- the pool area was nice and quiet.
- overall selection of food for breakfast / lunch / dinner were pretty good.
- Wifi was very temperamental - mostly not usable. Although slightly better in central areas.
- Room service - tried to ring dining services for 30 minutes with no answer. When I got through they had a different menu from the in-dining menu that was originally given, with lots of things removed. Staff were very apologetic, but for a 5* hotel, i was a bit disappointed.
- the buffet was the same food for both lunch and the dinner (Easter weekend) which was disappointing.
- location great for the smaller airport but there was nothing walkable from the hotel. Not essential but would have been preferable to have coffee shop / supermarket nearby.
- promotes having a spa but there were just in-room massages offered. Not a big issue but something I would have liked to be aware of when booking the hotel.
- I booked a room with pool view and was not given that view. Not something I complained about at the time as it doesn’t bother me too much. But little things like that make the difference on my overall view of the hotel stay.

Bad attitude from staff. No shuttle to the airport. Staff felt I should walk. With 2 suitcases at 4am!!!
Morning staff were mortified when they heard of my treatment. Given the wrong room. Then changed to a worse one.

I did not have the breakfast as it was not included in my package.
The shower could have been a bit cleaner, and the vanity was really worn out, it had sever water damage at the bottom of it and could use a replacement as it makes the bathroom look really bad. ( even though it isn't)

Reception and Restaurant decor is very nice. Rooms are clean but bathrooms outdated and shower in bath is very tight. Restaurant food is very average. Had a nice pizza but service is a bit slow and you can see hotel is in the beginning part of reviving as this used to be Safari hotel. This can become the top hotel in Windhoek but they will need to pull up their socks.

24 hour reception is very convenient. Also I stayed a few days ago and the wifi was sketchy, however during this stay there were no problems at all. Perhaps had something to do with the volume of guests staying which cannot be helped
