Amazing facilities and excellent location! They also create a good environment to get to know others. I love the dogs and cat
They make you pay for everything except your room fee in cash. The key deposit of 400 Namibian ($22 US) is excessive and only creates frustration upon arrival after a long journey. The early checkout fee of 200 Namibian ($11 US) is excessive and frustrating. I asked staff if it could be waived for me since they say in their intro message it can be if you give advance notice, and my shuttle was coming before 7am (checkout time) so I had no choice but to checkout early. Instead of hearing me out, staff became combative and made me feel as if I was just a bad person scheming to be an exception to a rule, but I was making a reasonable request. They claimed they are only volunteers and were unable to waive the fee. So I asked for the manager’s phone number to see if they could consider waiving it, and I was denied access to the manager. This was a stain on an otherwise great stay. I would suggest getting a modern, electronic lock if possible so that these frustrating key deposits and early checkout fees aren’t necessary.
Also I paid 27 euro a night for my dorm room while others paid 18 euro.

Great location in centre of town. Very secure with parking behind gate for those that drive. Would say it’s basic but you get what you pay for!

Good
-The roommates were very welcoming, accommodating and socializing.
-I made friends and had fun.
-payment of key fee should be made clear on website, to avoid inconvenience.
- The staff kept reminding me to check out when I was fully aware. I think reminder upon arrival is fine enough. I felt like she just wanted me to leave as soon so they can get back to their schedule.
- house keeping needs improvement

Disappointing
Nice volunteer staff, great for booking activities, all of which were big fun. I did quad biking, Sandwhich Harbour, and a scenic flight through them, which were great and well facilitated with pickup from hostel.
There are only 2 bathrooms (each with 1 shower and 1 toilet together), which meant a lot of waiting and frustration. I think the building has been converted from a house, which made certain things difficult or impractical for a hostel. The dorm room was probably a former garage of some sort, and it was rather musty and the walls were extremely thin. Security for it was also not what I hoped/would expect from most hostels.
There are two dogs and a cat on the property, all very friendly, but at night, the dogs bark every time someone enters the hostel gate right outside the dorms, through which I could hear everything and kept waking up.
Breakfast was over by 9, which was disappointing after a night of being kept up by dogs.
They don’t offer a way to do laundry.
They take a N$400 key deposit from you right away, which seems excessively high especially given the circumstances of the keys. I paid for the shuttle they recommended, plus the deposit, and it cleaned me out of cash right after I had just been to an atm, before I even left the hostel to do anything.
These are just some things I wish I’d known before booking, especially as I chose it for its high rating.
